ctf_Dormant - Laos-Remake project (for the contest)
« on: June 21, 2009, 07:49:41 am »

Some early design with small details, planning to do some major layout and theme changes as you can see.
Low path has deadly bottom in the alpha side. (forgot to put a sign for that).
Tell me your opinion or stuff which could be better.

I'll post some more images of this project once I proceed.
oh and btw, I will need somebody to waypoint this at the end, anyone interested?

*Bleu base design modifications
*Deadfall below red-base removed
*Polygons finished, sceneries added
*Current look:

According to my observations Alpha team can steal the blue flag and score faster than Bravo team can. But since bravo team spawns all over the flag it should be harder to approach. Alpha's flag should be easy to steal, but its a high possibility to be caught.

NEEDS WAYPOINTS, ANYONE? PLEASE?!

Alpha team needs some advantages since bravo base is higher than alphas.

Design looks pretty good. It's total remake and well some gameplay changed. After all it seems interesting asymmetrical map.

Bravo base needs more interesting flag place than short dead end tunnel. Kampflike flag place could be good, where defenders can't kill flagger immeaditely and so easily cos flagger has some cover at flag place.

You need an edge to boost the efc a bit and avoid nading the flagplace.

^Suowarrior's way seems way better, because if the spawned throw grenades into that, the EFC is done. Suowarrior's way allows both teams to have same chances in capping. However I'd move the flag and so on a bit more to the left, because if 2-3 guys spawn and someone's gonna cap, that guy is gonna get a heavy rapage.

Well the point was kind of to make it easier to steal alpha flag, but then its harder to escape.
Oppositely bravo's flag is hard to steal and...

So, hows this?

Seems reasonable enough. If you have brainstorm with changing the flag's placement, why not trying to change the player's spawns?

And here's some stuff I just made.

Started from alpha base, and man this took like an hour to do this much.

I guess original bravo flag place might be the best after all... I'm pretty sure the balance is messed up. Red flag is easier to steal and blue flag a lot harder than in original...

More stuff!

Still without the low path, otherwice alpha base would be done!
Currently theres +900 polygons and the support scenery. It will be covered with OPC polygons, which means
you can defend low path easier and snipe down EFCs (which would somehow balance the gameplay).

Colors will propably not change much from what they are now, maybe I put some red and blue sceneries to the bases to make some eye-catchers. Such as flags, crates and junk. So you can kind of like recognize which side you are.

*EDIT

Yes, texture is mine

Did you make that texture? :o  Looks awesome :)
For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.

Now everything except blue base and rest of sceneries are done.
-I removed the deadfall which was originally in the design below the red base.

I guess original bravo flag place might be the best after all... I'm pretty sure the balance is messed up. Red flag is easier to steal and blue flag a lot harder than in original...
^I was considering this suggestion.
I might also put the blue flag to above blue-base to twist the gameplay completely.
Then again, It might turn out to be too hard for bravo.

Something like this:

1. Would make some balance at the difference between flags and spawns in both bases.
However it would still be pretty hard to defend.
2. Normal spot, would be easier for bravo to score. (balance would mostly like waver)

3rd choise would be to do according to the upper picture.

Well, the theme is something like Tech/Winter - ofcouse thats different from the original. And I'm not propably only one
who has changed themes in this remake contest. Layout is almost the same, flag spots may switch places though.
