ctf_B4B [ReMake for contest]

Capture the Flag_Be ready 4 BOOM!



Like you can see I made a mirrored version of ctf_B2B with some changes in gameplay. The jets will be higher than in the normal version and there are 2 good places for the flagcarrier in the sky on each base to stay and hope. I guess I will add a rock in the middle on the low path to make route changing faster and I am working on a polyisland in the sky that suits the style I used for this map. Do you have any suggestions? Post now :)

-Make it more like the original layout (nonmirrored) Mirroring maps is cheap.
-Put that "up-thingy" to the middle.
-Remove those spike-camp spots from the roofs.
-And those roundy islands in the bases were good for barret spray-cover for flaggers, you should add those too.

Suggestions:
  • Name: ctf_b4b is taken.
  • Whole map is much too flat, looks like you can hit anywhere on the upper route from the base.
  • Bottom center is way too open.
  • Camping spots on center islands are probably bad for gameplay.
  • Camping spots at bases are going to make gameplay awful.
  • In general the map lacks any form of cover.
  • Up center is also very open, but it's hard to say if that really matters, because you can be hit from the base while you're there anyway.
  • I imagine a ricochet can go base to base, if not a straight barret shot.
  • Very Sprayable.
  • Area below the bases are vulnerable to nadespam.
I'd also like to get an idea of the map's scale.

Symmetry wasn't really a part of b2b, that's part of what made it fun.

In addition to what Wraithlike said, the middle roof portion looks way too clunky and in the way.  If you're planning on adding additional islands in the open spaces, it could hinder the flow of the game.

Here you can see my B2B across from the original including all changes I did. I am working on this being unmirrored and the low path. I removed the spiky polygonislands in the sky, added the well known polygonislands at the bases and in the middle. I guess I will need to change the right side completely, I changed also some colorsettings but that is not so important like the layout :)

Do not the top route flat. Center part doesn't look much of original. It'll be okay map still, I think.

You are getting way too technical with the layout.  What I liked about the original was its openness; your remake is far too restrictive on the player's movement.

I forgot to mention, that the bright grey cols in the middle are OBC to provide base to base shots and spraying. I will consider about putting the top polygons more upwards to make it more open and I will try to make it not as flat as it is at the moment.

I guess I will really cut them off or make them smaller since I put the top higher. The blocks you mentioned are OBC to avoid spray, should I really delete them?

I like how the map looks overall, I say only follow the pic in smiluu's post, the OBCs are fine :P
