GM already made the electric car that got fucked by the oil industry, so when we run out of oil, we can start using electricity. I suggest you watch the documentary on it if you haven't seen it: Who Killed the Electric Car?

Here's how I look at global warming, and it makes sense to me at least. Fossils show where I live (Ohio) used to be underwater. Long time ago. At one point, a bunch of dinosaurs, plants, etc. died and were buried, and now exist as oil, coal, etc. Which means that carbon is underground, not in the atmosphere. Now we are taking it out of the ground and putting it back into the atmosphere. So eventually all that water will melt off the ice caps (more CO2=more temp) and Ohio will be under water again. That could be totally, utterly wrong and has not been researched in depth at all, but sounds right to me. If it is wrong, tell me so I don't go on thinking an utterly wrong thought.

Depending on when you're referring to, "Ohio" being under water was more of a function of tectonics than climate

As far as that goes, I was under the impression that the "holes" in the ozone over the poles exist because sunlight is required to change oxygen into ozone, and those places simply get less sunlight.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I actually had a school project about the ozone layer, I wrote 11 sides about that s**t :S, though I've almost forgotten everything, one thing I remember was that the environment is affect alot by nature itself, like volcanoes and such things, and well we can't really do much to reduce the destruction of ozone. But sure we can do small things that could matter perhaps.

Yes, but I assume the angle at which sunlight hits the poles causes them to receive less of it.

Not so much, considering that during... 2 months?... out of the year, either pole receives ~24 hours of daylight.

The thing with plastic, glass and whatnot is that there is no way that earth could get rid of it.  Few pieces of such materials in critical areas can easily contaminate the land locally to such state that some of the wildlife will have to move out to other areas because of lack of food(some of the insects may not be able to endure the changes due to contamination) and the whole food chain will change drastically. 

That has been the case here in the city I live. Some locally rare and endangered species of owls have had to move away from the natural forests because of the changes in the local environment caused by a small town built to very next of the forest. From the area, at least one of the species has completely perished locally because of the human activity around, mainly the trash and litter around the nature. Also, many of the rather rare plants around here have suffered greatly because of the litter. This then in the long run will change the ecosystem of such a natural forest and have consequences far away from the human activity.

Yeah, few owls, few rare species of random plants and whatnot, what about them? Sure it will not affect my life. Neither does it affect yours.  However, eventually the nowadays common species of animals and plants will become endangered, the amount of clean water and air will decrease, and will become a resource to fight for. But yeah, why should we care when nothing drastic will happen during our lifetime? Future generations.

Right now man does more harm than man does good. Eventually earth will run out of anything good, and only the bad exists. By then, there is no man(as we know it) anymore and the cycle begins once again.

I think any way you look at it the earth will always be slowly dying with us on it.  All the stuff we can carelessly do and on the scale we are able to do it.

The Earth is not dying. The Evolution will take care of the species. Old species die and there will become new survivors who will live well in the changed environment, for example global warming.
