You guys done?

I hope so :D

MadDog, your scenarios are pretty far fetched.  Admit it.  They don't add any weight to your point...whatever it is.  That, and you really don't need to fly off the handle over a misunderstanding.  Without getting into half of the ridiculous stuff you put up, acting like a sarcastic twat generally doesn't help.

Now, let's all just shift our attention to..oh..the point at hand?  You know, vehicles reflecting the personalities of those who drive them?

In all honesty, there's a link between needs and personality that's not being pointed out here.  If someone were to gather some numbers on what types of people usually drove certain types of vehicles, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some trends to be seen.  But I wonder how those trends would change if the need for the vehicle was the focus instead of "person X owning vehicle Y".  Of course, you'd need to take these with a grain of salt depending on the demographic you chose.

I've had two cars.  A 96 Toyota Corolla, and a 94 (?) Honda Accord.  Both great cars that have served me well.  I have yet to take the Honda anywhere too harsh, but the Corolla took more than it's fair share of abuse and kept on chuggin'.  No need for a truck/jeep there.

I think in most cases, the vehicle itself doesn't reflect your personality, though you can retroactively justify it in that way.  For example, I drive a minivan.  The real reason is because that's the car my mom sold me so I could get to work.  But I could say that it reflects me because I like a practical, comfortable vehicle that not only can get me around, but also has space for taking friends somewhere or carrying junk around should the need arise.  But that's just backwards logic.

As for the interior, I could see it reflecting my personality, or at least my lifestyle, though I doubt that's any surprise to anyone.  But then, that's not the vehicle, that's just how you interact with your environment and possessions.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

@ The Geologist:

"-you really don't need to fly off the handle over a misunderstanding."

Uh... I think you're aiming at the wrong person there.... 1. Good ol' 4 year old had the misunderstanding and 2. he's the one who flew off the handle... "retarded ass" "f**king ridiculous" "f**king stupid." If I was younger, I would've been very hurt by that abuse. I noticed you didn't chide him for it... I assume you two must be close... so, I can understand if you take his side... but please don't act like you're not. I'd appreciate it if you didn't think I was stupid.  :P

That scenario was just something off the top of my head, to try to make my point. I guess I put too much faith in the narrow possibility that people here would open their minds a bit and not be 200% concrete. God.  :P

Now, I am not saying that just looking at a person's car can give you every single nitty gritty detail about them. Just a bland generalization. "You can't judge someone solely by the car parked in their driveway." Now that quote from the four year old sums it up perfectly. I never said you can judge someone entirely from their car... but you can get an idea, a small idea. Why do you people have to be not only concrete, but pessimistic, cynical, and acrid? Is it honestly that hard to not lash out at others?

Oh, and I'd bet if I was the one cursing like that, I'd have a nice fat warning for it. So, good job being fair and unbiased. No really, that's just admirable.  ::)

If I was younger, I would've been very hurt by that abuse.

I'm sure you would've been, assuming that you have been sheltered from all types of media for the first half of your life.

Although a4yo is a regular and has been with us for a significant amount of time, we would not protect him from punishment if he crosses any lines. Please do not imply that Geo's "relationship" with a fellow forum member is interfering with his position of power.

I think what Geo is trying to say is that you take some prolonged logical detours in order to arrive at your point. One can tell by reading your posts that you struggle at some points to win an argument. I do think that you have somewhat of a point. A car can tell us about a fraction of someone's personality. However, you must first statistically control for other factors, such as the purpose that a car would serve and the location at which it would serve that purpose. If I'm a painter I may have a pickup or an outback to fit all of my equipment in, despite the fact that I prefer small, economic cars. If I live in Estes Park, Colorado, I may have a tiny Toyota instead of my preferred Ford truck because large vehicles start chuggin' on the many upward slopes in the area.

In a common area, after controlling for such factors, then yes, a person's car can tell you about their personality. My point is that the link between the two is nowhere near as strong as you claim that it is, and as I said before, you tend to take some farfetched routes to arrive at your point.

Hmm..I'll update this after I'm done laughing.  Never knew I had any "relationship" with 4 year old.

Until then, cry me a river.  [retard]

For the topic at hand, Kazuki has the right idea.  Bonus points for the Estes park reference as well.

@Kazuki

So, according to your response, I'm allowed to insult people like that here, huh?

Okay, good, thanks for the clarification. I mean, if he's allowed to do it, and he isn't chums with Geo, then that must mean I'm allowed. Thanks.

Oh, too bad I'm not that type of pessimistic, insulting toddler, I'd have free reign to curse. Right?

"Please do not imply that Geo's "relationship" with a fellow forum member is interfering with his position of power."

Well, then how would you explain it? Demonaic93 gets a fifteen point warning for saying "f**cking idiot" on a different page, yet not a4yo, who said worse? Well golly, that's sure strange.... Please don't imply that I'm making baseless accusations. I'm not pulling this outta thin air, here...

So the rules just... randomly apply to people hmm?

I notice that still you don't admit he was out of line (a4yo)... Not one mention.... how odd... if it were me who said that...

Bam!  Justice is served.  MadDog, I spoke solely because after I read through the posts, I deemed you to be the instigator here.

This topic is once again about vehicles and personalities, and any more posts about the above drama will be warned.  Go!

No, the rules do not apply randomly. They also do not apply fairly. If you're looking for complete fairness, I doubt you'll find it past the act of flipping a coin. For the record, if your roles were reversed, I would not be punishing you either. Call me insane, but I believe both of you are old enough to handle profanity, god forbid, insults. The unfair part here is that although I acknowledge how pointless and unnecessary a4yo's most recent posts were, I'm not going to do anything about them, whereas another mod probably will.

On a separate note, just because you don't curse doesn't mean that you don't insult.

If you're going to trust anyone, by the way, Geo would be the one to trust. He's probably the most fair one amongst us.

Now then, do you have a response to my previous post on this topic?

@Kazuki

What do they say about how wolves attack together? (yours and Geo's posts)  ;)

As I've said before, just giving a bland description of a vehicle can only be taken so far... try a picture. Look at MetsuriTossavainen's post: he put up a pic of his vehicle. Now, look at my assessment, and his approval to the accuracy of it. Notice how when people put up their cars, I can judge best. Notice that when people like a4yo talk about how horrible their cars are, I cannot be as accurate.

Where I live, conditions are for the most part... controlled. Perhaps that makes the whole personality thing apply more here, good point.

Generally speaking, if you have an old vehicle, then the odds are it isn't the optimum car of your choice. However, even when forced to get an old vehicle, you still have a small choice between them
