Mar77a, hands down.

The most abusive IRC admin/moderator I've ever seen banning me for months without proper reasoning other than questioning his all powerful ego, and his gay friend kzya. Then he tries to be cool by posting our chat logs to his friends so they can have a good laugh. I'm sure I speak for a large part of the IRC community.

mar77a is made of win and argentina - the sort of authoritive mentality he has is what more or less tied #sna.gather together since the start up. I can count the amount of times he has slipped or made an error in such cases on ONE hand, and even then he apologized / made it up. yo.

Like politicians, most have problems. Unlike politicians, they can't be voted out....

On a different thread, admin Kazuki told me essentially that the actions of admins here differ based on who the admin is that runs across something questionable. Some lash out, some ignore...

Kazuki: "If you're looking for complete fairness, I doubt you'll find it past the act of flipping a coin." "The unfair part here is that although I acknowledge how pointless and unnecessary [other user] most recent posts were, I'm not going to do anything about them, whereas another mod probably will."

Now my question is... why are there no moderation rules? It's a simple question. I mean, if I run a red light, and the cop pulls me over... that's fair. If I run a red light in a different town, and the other cop starts shooting at my car... that's not too fair. That analogy, while a bit extreme, does seem to fit here. If the police must follow proper conduct rules (called LAW), and most agree it's fair, then why not have general moderation rules to which all admins equally follow?

There's a reason why those statues outside of courthouses have blindfolds on. Personal opinion is not a factor in justice, or the law. Why should it be here?

That's basically my problem. You've been hearing about the Sotomayor hearings. One of the major complaints from her opposition is that they believe she'll rule on her opinion rather than the facts. So, why no moderation rubric?

Oh, and I'm just sure they'll love this post... I so eagerly await their acrid responses...

There's a set of rules for the whole board (like no porn, warez, soldat hacks), and there's different rules for each sub-forum (off topic goes in the lounge, and the rest are pretty evident). The moderators job is to uphold these rules, moving and locking threads, cutting off discussions once they drift into nonsense: and of course the lounge is the toughest part. Like an inflated kindergarten with a bunch of misbehaving kids baiting and picking on each other. Loads of fun.

That being said, the admins watch over each other as well, if someone goes loco or is deemed unsuitable, he gets shut down. It's a fine recipe for a relaxed gaming forum like this.

@MadDog: Of course the actions of moderators and admins differ. If you don't think this happens with law enforcement, you need to wake up from your delusional slumber. There are cops on the highway that will stop you for going 60 in a 55, and there are those that will let you slide when you're driving at 75 or even 80.

A couple of months ago, there was a disclaimer at the top of the rules page that basically said "THESE RULES ARE MORE LIKE GUIDELINES AND WILL BE APPLIED AS SEEN FIT". I'm wondering where this disclaimer went, because that is how I interpret the rules. I don't even understand what the big deal is here. It's not like I gave you an unfair punishment; it's that I didn't punish someone when, in your opinion, I should have.

Wanna know the difference between us and politicians? We don't have to be politically correct. And in my opinion, sir, the reason that most of the regulars find you annoying is because you act like a politician. You like to stand up on that pedestal of yours and act like you know everything. You're condescending and stubborn. And no, I'm not trying to turn the attention from myself to you. I just figured that someone ought to tell you soon.
