Of mice and men.
« on: July 23, 2009, 09:07:25 pm »
I decided it was time for a new mouse, mainly to complement my new laptop's FPS gaming capability. As I usually use my tablet for browsing, my previous mouse was a very basic IBM mouse my uncle dropped me. When I plugged in my new Razer though, I realized that the cursor moves EXTREMELY quickly and any small motion seems to send the cursor flying across the screen. Granted I've now set the sensitivity at ~4.5 and its manageable, but my question is, do people really use mice with that much sensitivity? How do you guys use your mice?

My dad uses a mouse like that and I can't stand it. I've noticed that wireless mouses tend to do it the worst.

I just turn down the sensitivity and it's fine.

I use whatever the default setting is for XP.. It suits me fine. I can move the cursor the full width of the monitor display in 1/7 of my (standard) mousemat width.

If that's anything to go by.

I have about 6 inches of lateral space for my mouse with a pretty high sensitivity monitor. People are surprised by the sensitivity to say the least. the sensitivity level is set to 1350 whatever that means.

I just use whatever generic USB laser mouse comes my way, and my laptops' touchpads. I don't change any configuration.

You're not alone.

Anyhow, I can't handle the really sensitive settings.  Without checking, I know I tuned my mouse down a bit.  Not too fast that I can't select small areas when working on various stuffs, not so slow I don't feel like I'm lagging in movement.

The wireless mouse I use for my laptop is great. The sensitivity on 1920x1200 resolution is good as I need to go from one side of the screen to the other fast. On lower reses it's get's annoying and I have to lower it.

1050 dpi.
G5 mouse, with the weights added (dont know how much currently).

Generic 1$ mousepad.

Have 5 dpi setting slots, but i use only 2 of them: the 1050 dpi is default and the 400 dpi settings when trying to draw something or select precisely.

I have used this for years with normal mouse settings and I'm fine with this. :)

PS. It has that huge ball, no laser, no any optical shit, just that nostalgic ball-technology. (Only bad thing is that those rolls inside the mouse collect weird black crap, and it affects to the ball movement.)

Yeah, that's what I use...although it's older, a little yellow, and doesn't have some fancy symbol on it.
