AK-74 for sure, well balanced and good for most situations. But then again, you have to consider what weapons are best suited for certain maps, of course you don't have to use them but it will give you the edge. Say, if you were in a map like Nuubia, using M79s really excel there. Or if you were to play big open maps like, B2b or Run, at least one player would opt for a Barret somewhere along the line.

As for what Major said, he's right, the minimi is very powerful.

Imagine a 1vs1 dm: 1 player with minimimi and the other with a m79.

The minimi user just have to keep his distance and spray from long range.

My post was just stating the obvious versatility of the m79.

For me it's the most powerful weap of the game but this is just my opinion and I don't play in sctfl or anything.

Fair enough, man. This is a topic for individual opinions, lol.

M79 is a very strong weapon but is practically useless if you're versing a good aim/spray player. But at this point, it's dependent on the map.

A good m79 player is able to win on any map assuming that he is not only claiming to be a good m79 player. In 1v1 the m79 may be the wrong choose but in any other gamemode you'll probably have a big advantage. In CTF players won't rush back because you weild a m79 so you'll be able to get close to him. No need to tell that it's harder to use the m79 in more open maps like Run or B2B, but it's quit the best choice on maps like Nuubia.

I always go ret-ing on maps like Maya2 because you can spawnkill from the top of the hill and people go WTF

The master has spoken. But has the master read carefully? No! He just stated that the M79 is very powerful and elaborated his opinion with a few (10) arguments.

M79 isn't very powerful at all, the opponent can just stay back and move half as fast as usual, but keep killing the M79er.
it's kinda only useful on small maps or very specific spots... even when it's supposed to be very advantageous it can still easily lose to a minimi.
(he did state some good points, but it doesn't make it the most powerful weapon... the boosting ability is very useful ;o)

M79 is just slightly better than brt, and brt is next to useless (unless you are way above your opponents level, then it can be as good as an ordinary weapon).

I find weapons to be quite balanced at the moment (except steyr aug). Just because certain maps or guns are popular at the moment doesn't mean that in different circumstances or while ported by different users guns will NOT be effective. For example, in small maps like nuubia, HK, M79 and Spas are very effective, while in bigger maps minimi, ruger and AK are definitely more suitable choices. It also depends on the different styles of play and other factors, for instance in d2's top route, depending on your gamestyle you could go about using pretty much all weapons.

1vs1-4 game= Barrett, Law ( For Long Lvl); Mp5, Spas, m79 (For Short and small Lvl)
1vs4-8 game= Ruger, Eagles and Most accurated rifle (For Long Lvl); Spas, Minigun, Minimi (For Short and small Lvl

there no such things is a best weapon.. only the user who can use is the best at it. every weapon have a special combatant in it class ,close,mid,long range..i use every category of the gun..i suck at SAW is my problem

Agreed, it is more about the players who use the weapon - their movement, accuracy, playing style etc.
However, this is sortof a debate about which better is most used/overpowered.

In soldat there cant be a best weapon since they are mostly all balanced and each is good in a certain situation or for a certain playstyle.

I like the steyr and the spas.Though I completely agree that Spas Steyr and Barret are to powered even with the movement accuracy.
