Save script
« on: July 29, 2009, 05:31:18 pm »
Hey guys,

a few houres ago i hade a idea how to make the save script working (dont kill you everytime on /load).
I think its simpel but working (Bonecrusher meant it will flood the servers cuz timer - what ever :d im no scripter).

So here is the idea:
When a player does /load, the script gives him autom. godmode than it loads the player and after that it removes the god.

Would that work? :d

/save and /load which can be found on this forums works fine, it doesn't kill at it doesn't lag the server. No idea what you are talking about.

Also, when a player does /load the script gives him godmode, after that the script moves him to the saved position, after the player got moved to the saved position the script removes the godmode.

Yes, when you save 1px from deadly poly it may kill you.

Youre right, when I played portal on [INC] I saw this. It's some MovePlayer bug... (scriptcore 2.6.5 afaik)

Current scriptcore has a bug that will occasionally make you drop your weapon.

I know that the core is bugged, i want the script for climb, so i had the idea with godmode. If it drops youre weapon its okay, cuz there aren't any weapons :d (i hope you know that :p).

So i just want to know if it possible to do that???

Don't know if it's possible to force a non-weapon on a player (other weapon is forcable though), especially during god-mode, when normally a player can't even switch weapons.

A better solution: Keep two save points, so if last save-point gets bugged, a player would still have his previous save point.
Easier, messier solution: Slightly randomize the coordinates where the player gets spawned after typing /load.

I recently added this to my climbing script.

OK, i will use you're ones, thx iDante :).

But if someone can do that it would be nice.

I asked Niko and he meant it isn't possible to remove godmode, but with the FunAdmin script it works :d...

Dunno if this is like your current issue but my friend an I were putting together a self-scripted climb server and we noticed that when you load, you sometimes warp to X: 0, Y:0 (which can be a death poly on some maps), and blow up, spilling your guts everywhere on the map. Then a corpse warps back the load position.

Note that you may need to make the person invincible, as if the 0,0 is inside a deadly polygon, the player may die. There were also issues I've noticed with it effecting other people and their lives, or somehting weird; not sure.

That's what he was doing initially. But yes, MovePlayer quite often affects other players seemingly at random, warping them to 0,0 and back. Sometimes if you're spectating someone you will see them disappear for a frame (and afterwards explode and/or drop weapon and flag).
