Sound Modding Problem
« on: August 18, 2009, 09:57:08 am »
I took some sounds from another video game for my crappy sci-fi weapons mod. But the sounds refuse to play, even though I'm absolutely sure they're spelt right.

What (else) could be causing them not to play when I shoot?

Yeah. They were wav files when they were in the game as well.

As I said, the filenames and the extensions are identical down to the capitalisation.

I noticed the vanilla Soldat sounds are 22khz, so I used Audacity to make the sounds have that sampling frequency, but they still don't play.

Make sure that you use Export sound option to save the sounds.
Check if they are properly named.

Is the folder in which the sounds are named "Sfx"?

Yes.

All the other untouched sounds work fine, when I paste the original sounds in from the backup of the sfx folder they work fine. Filenames and folder names aren't the problem here, I've even copied to clipboard the filenames of the backed up vanilla sounds and pasted them into the filenames of the currently-used sfx files.
