I've been taking little strolls through the !Elite Explosives server, and I've found that the m79 isn't as easy as one might think... Maybe its just because I'm not being a ***** with it, by blasting peoples close range, its really hard to get good with it. Again, this may be because I use automatics more than any non-autos but...

GOOD m79 people, I salute you.

The ones that are little chicken-butts, go just... away or something... blah...

I agree though. Those people who can get the angle just right within a splitsecond of contemplating are amazing.

Yeah, I get tired of seeing people whine about it taking no skill to use. Sure, it's easy to get point blank kills, but there's definitely advanced techniques tied to it. I wrote a mini FAQ for GameFAQs that got shot down for being too specific, trying to get people to learn how to expand the weapon's range with momentum along with advice on boosting with it (which isn't confined to vertical, upward leaps). A great place to get a speed boost horizontally is when capturing the Alpha flag on Kampf, since everyone expects you to take the top route. It's so satisfying to die, respawn, rocket jump to the EFC and nail him with a last second shot just before he scores. With any other weapon, that would never be possible. That's what makes the M79 the best weapon for CTF.

I have never used an m79 before, but I played a single game of !elite explosives, and I had no trouble at all with it. Of course, that might be because my primary, the ruger, also requires accuracy. I still maintain that the m79 takes very little skill, but it's balanced because it's so easy to dodge.

I understand why it's not a good weapon for r/s but only for normal or realistic it's a good tactical weapon if one can use it prpperly. Lets pcture this situation: in a tw map your enemies occupied a bunker close to your flag.You kill some of them with youzr laws but it takes long to reload and reinforcements are coming very quickly. So what do you do? Grab a m79 and hole up in a trench close to the bunker. Instead of using law to lob the missile to the bunker wich is very close you just use an m79 and lob a couple of nades in the bunker.enemies will a) get killed b) get some splash damage 3) got thrown out of the bunker or something else. Also m79 is good when your mate is carying a sniper . While he can shot the oncoming enemies some of them will surely hole up in a trench and wait for him to shoot and then charge in. Thats were the m79 comes in. You can lob a grenacde in a trench that you think there might be enemies and they will be either killed or thrown out of it to you sight and voila.

So why are you against m79. If its used properly it can be a killers weapon and you can still prove you're not a n00b

Which is why i tell ANYONE that complains about ANY weapon to start using it and pwn everyone in the server is its "so easy to use cause its a newb weapon"

its easy to use:than whats the problem, feeling that you got killed by an easier weapon than your own.

i think all the fights over weapons are pretty dumb, a lot of the time its mapmakers that make weapons unbalanced.

Finally, some one is saying something good about M79's. I own with M79, and i don't use cheap kamikaze close shots.

I also don't do close up m79 shots (I don't even use m79 anymore). If I just reloaded with someone right next to me, I'd jump through them, turn around and shoot from behind. I always had a natural aversion to point blank m79 shooting.

I do that myself to boost off the enemy and kill them with one shot. Looks neat.

The only problem is that you do run the risk of having them saw/knife/grenade/M79/etc. you before you get that chance. It's usually worth the risk though.

People that use close m79 shots are lame... the kinda people that are gonna be dicks with any guns. Plus its soooo fun it get the arch just right and let the people fly into the nade... or shoot at someone running away from you and seeing the nade fall right infront of them
