Minigun problems
« on: August 29, 2009, 09:46:55 am »
Ok first I'll tell you what I'm trying to do. Then I have some questions.

I'm trying to turn the minigun in to Deathstar [retard].
Problem:I can't get the mingun and minigun2 images to line up.

Questions: Why are there 2 mingun2 images, one called minigun2 and the other minigun-2. What is the minigun-rotate image for. How can I make to bullets look more beam like. I was thinking of making them just really long, and the self bink 0.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxMd93aCvd0 lol....The reason for that is an illustration of the beam firing. But its also really funny.

Minigun.bmp and Minigun-2.bmp are needed to show the minigun correct ingame. Soldat is not able to rotate the bmp the way it would be needed so there are 2 .bmps.

Minigun-rotate.bmp is to get the effect of a rotating minigun ingame.

If you want minigun and minigun-2 to line up flip the first minigun vertical and save it as minigun-2 and you are done.

2 things.
1 I can make it so that it looks right from both sides(obvious) but, the right hand side image is like 1-2 pixels above the left hand side one ingame.
2 If, I were to change the minigun bmps, and leave the mingun rotate, when it is firing, will it turn into the rotating bmp, or just not use it.

1: Your image is too big. Try to make it smaller.

2: If you don´t need this effect I´d simply leave it 1x1 pixels with lime. The minigun-rotate.bmp is shown above the original minigun so if you have it transparent you won´t have any problems with it.

My idea kinda is based on it reverting to the rotate. If you saw the death star vid, the lasers charge. So, if the rotate works, or if I can find a way, it will look awesome. And no, the image is not too big. Has this never happened to you? Where you flip it vertically so both images are in the correct posiont but the image2 is one or 2 pixels higher then image1?

To answer your second question; one of the minigun-2s is unneeded. Check the other -2 images for the correct context.

But can anyone answer my questions on the rotating issue? It doesn't seem to change back upon firing...Its odd. And the one on aligning the pixels correctly?

As far as I know the minigun-rotate images aren't actually used.

I don't think mine had a rotating effect!

The minigun cannot rotate. The sprite's unused. You should be using only:

minigun
minigun-2 (note the hyphen, if there is no hyphen, that's an unused one)
minigun-bullet
minigun-clip
minigun-fire
minigun-shell

Ignore all other minigun sprite files.
