We all know that most of the old players now have kind of the same amount of skills, slightly same aim, or nade skills or w/e, now the question is: How do i stand out, if i have more or less the same skills of everyone?
To the first part, no they don't. Skill is not quantifiable, and lots of "old" players are better at certain things than other "old" players.

To your question, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this: You do not have more or less the same skill level as these "old" players you speak of. So instead of asking about raising your ping in order to eat more, you should actually try getting better.

High lag is a double-edged sword, and with the right tactic it can be more of an advantage than it is a disadvantage.

While you're going to have a harder time killing, enemies will have a harder time killing you. If your tactic is to run past the enemies and grab flags rather than fight then your team may end up with more caps at the end, which is what really matters.

err, when I lag I run caps the flag, but it won't get capped (when it's 1000+), and I just die at the place I came from.

with high ping you just wanna spray.

But the thing is that the double edged sword will turn into a sudden vote kick.

Ok that's flame right there....

Dude I'm talking about the existence of TORRENTING, and PING ADVENTAGE in-game and more important IN TOURNAMENTS,  I'm also saying that skills are equal to  map- knowledge,Aim (nades and weapons), strategies in-game, and game playstyle witch by this time....almost every player who has been around since 1.2, 1.3 already KNOW AND HAS.

This discussion is pointless on a forum where people don't know what torrenting and lag/ping advantage is and how it affects games in leagues and why it isn't possible to solve the problem easily.

Eating is a skill
Hahahah made my day :D
Do you seriously think that having more torrent downloads than your opponent and/or being more lucky is a skill?

People don't usually whines about lag or torrenting UNTIL the day they face it I've have seen it.

Jut yesterday i played vs a team who seemed to be a new clan well their pings were from 50 to 250 and all the numbers in betwen....now tell me wtf is that? that's not normal ping fluctuations...and FUUUUUU who ever say they are normal ping fluctuations...

Not in the competitive scene, among the respected players.

Uh I suppose you misunderstood my point. What I meant was that it's not happening among the respected competitive players.

Unfortunately, playing only against respected players and teams doesn't earn you enough points to be viable in the bigger leagues, and you really don't have any choice at all once playoffs start.

But the thing is that the double edged sword will turn into a sudden vote kick.

That may be an effective solution in pubs, but starting a vote kick will likely get YOU banned in gathers and leagues.

Ziem provided some great insight when he said:

You'd be better off raising this issue on the SCTFL forums rather than here. Although it surely affects us all, it's a much more heated and consequential topic in the competitive community, and unfortunately a lot of those players don't venture around here.

The best advice that I can give you when you suspect that somebody is torrenting or otherwise abusing high ping is to take demos and report that individual or clan to the administrators of the gather/league/cup in question. Speaking as an SCTFL admin, we do not take torrenting lightly, and we are more than willing to punish clans abusing the system. The problem is that a lot of people don't bother taking demos of offenders, and it often comes down to one clan's word against another's. Understandably it's difficult for us to act in these cases.

If it weren't for your absurdness he wouldn't have needed to say that.
You know it's an issue that concerns competitive play more than public play, why not take it up to the proper forums?  :|

Even though he has some s**t grammar and English, I think this dude is correct to a certain extent. Aim/Accuracy in using weapons will start peaking at a certain point, obviously some people will be better than others, but the differences are pretty marginal. This is where 3 things come into play in terms of individual skill

1. Experience
2. Intelligence
3. Lag

Experience applies more to competitive 3v3 ctf, but intelligence and lag will apply to every gamemode. Ive always noticed that when im being laggy (Bouncing off nades and s**t), I obviously am raping cause its way harder to kill me. Lag does play a part in competitive soldat, how much is up for debate.

In terms of torrents to increase lag, I don't really think it is too effective or even common in leagues. It does happen but in very few cases, because it is very obvious when someone is using torrents. By lag I am just referring to natural torrent-less lag, which some people have and some dont.
