Admin's tyranny
« on: September 08, 2009, 09:57:21 pm »
Although people will think of admins with respect, they're nothing but super powered players in my view. Look, admins recently in fun servers such as zombie mode and climbing mode, majority are admins with either no life on the certain server or simply crazy good at it. This may be nice, but the problem is the fact majority become monarchs and piss normal players off by all the bull shit abilities they have.

One of this example was from when I was in a climbing map. I reached the goal, but the flag was elsewhere because of a moronic admin messing around the map with the flag. Now how should I know he was an admin, but I still decided to vote kick the admin. And you know what happened? The admin perma-banned me just because of a simple vote kick.

Look, the real point is that I believe that admins are misusing their power and just mourn people whenever they want to. I suggest that admins while in game have limited ability such as server message to prevent tyranny.

I've been playing Soldat for a while, and I believe that admins' powers need to be balanced to end the grief of players.

I agree, that admins should have limited power.
But server owners have a right to do what ever they want!

Not even server owners, the simple assigned admins even fuck around with their powers.

Subadmin scripts would make life easy.

Zombie survival and climbing is boring as hell, admins are usually crap or retarded too.
Play on a regular server, admins aren't any where near as bad in the more popular regular CTF servers.

Of course I play normal modes too. It's just that when I'm either tired of owning or getting owned, I just gotta loosen the tension by playing something less serious.

I think admins should have all the privileges possible, hence the term "Administrator.."

It's up to the players to not play in servers manned by assholes.

Admins are admins, they should have their powers.
From other hand - admins are still people and most of them get overwhelmed with their extraordinary privileges - they start to act like morons.

Subadmin scripts would make life easy.
There is a subadmin script. link: http://soldatcentral.com/index.php?page=script&f=125

Admins have a right to do whatever they like since they are admins which are the head of a server.

Hello tehsnipah,

I think there is no need to call the admin moronic or whatever unless you want to tell everybody that admins are bad instead to try to find a solution.
We already understand how annoying it is to get banned.
I myself got banned from an UK server after I have answered to their question where I'm from.

In your case I would stop playing on the server or try to reach the admin to solve the issue.
It's common that the main-admin has a few other people who have admin on the server to keep it clean (at least thats how it is on my server).
I understand your pain but there is nothing else you can do if there are admins who love it to abuse their position.

The problem is that people who have admin are not mature enough to use it for properly.
That's not the the failure of soldat it's the failture of the main-admin who gave the other people his adminlog or it's even himself who fails.

Maybe it's time for a global admin abuse report system thingy.

Admins are supposed to help run the server, keep it fun and all with the use of their special admin powers and scripts dedicated for admins. Limiting the use of admin power is not a good idea just for the sake of some immature admins - sometimes an admin needs full power to be able to handle things.

If you come across a very crappy admin, chances are he is picked by the more mature main admin or the server owner due to poor judgment, so you can just report the matter to him and hopefully the main admin realizes his mistake and get that crappy admin removed from power. Of course, if that admin is the main guy himself, then forget about that server and play another one. Servers with jerks for an owner don't deserve players.

...never

Only thing an admin should do is kick a hacker/someone that is harassing other players, or fix a problem with the server. General dicking around should be saved when playing with friends, not randoms. Then again this is the internet, no one is ever wrong and everyone can beat up everyone else in real life... so what do I know.

Please don't beat me up.

Yesterday Dnmr got bored in hexer. He screwed with the gravity so much I felt like a ping pong ball. It was funny. But it still happened. So crazy stuff can happen on regular servers too. Just not as much. Whether you call hexer regular, is up to you :P

Get people to stop going. If people continue to go, they can continue being idiots. If everyone stops going, they server shuts down unless the owner likes to throw away money. New ones come up, and people stop being retarded because they want their server to stay up.

T^T

Do you guys think vote ban will work? That way, admins can't REALLY overpower and it goes for other players also...

An admin has the power to ban/kick/mute/whatever for a reason, if you don't like the way a server is run start your own and appoint your own admins.
