Weapons.ini
« on: September 15, 2009, 06:23:48 pm »
....needs a serious update! It's not a hard thing like moving polys or anything!

It's been suggested so many times. I don't know why it does get an update (even just one or two extra options).
I've got a few off the top of my head.

Range=## (Works like stat gun. Bullet disappears at a certain point)
Push=## (How much the bullet pushes you back, if any)
Clip=## (For limited ammo)

I had more. I forget for now! Range and clip would be easy!

IMO, range and clip should be a default in realistic mode.
And bullet push is one of the main things I hate about Soldat. (Although I do like when the spas pushes you back a little bit when you fire)

Also SPAS and mp5 would be awesome with range. Since they're close range weapons.
And spray would be fixed with range.

And the more options you have, the better quality mods you can make. And easier to simulate a universe. (Halo, GoW, what ever)...

Discussion? Your ideas and opinions?

Yes, why suggest it again?

I think it will be done in a few years, but for now let's all hope the dm bug gets fixed.

I know that weapon.ini has been suggested.
But I dunno about some of the particular ones I mentioned were.

Plus apparently you have to jam suggestions down peoples throats before they're taken seriously!

No, my only point was that making the weapons.ini better has been suggested about 15*10^27 times.

Also, none of your suggestions is unique. All of them have been suggested before (read above for the amount) either in the exact same way or in other form.

Wow. I just thought of something that would require this.

Instead of customized weapons like someone suggested before (nade launchers etc)

Have each gun read from two different .ini files. By pressing a button, it switches the entire weapon.ini..

It wouldn't be good for normal gamemodes, as nothing really is. But it would add dimension for modders!

(You could simulate suppressors, giving them less range and more burst). And you could probably still add a nade launcher if you wanted....

weapons.ini needs improving - that's fact. But I think that range idea is useless. Soldat have pretty good physic and bullets hit ground after gaining some certain distance.

It's only 15 with 27 zeros after it. (;
