Competitive Soldat Movement?
« on: September 16, 2009, 06:03:41 am »
As most of you know, Soldat doesn't seem to have a very bright future. Many people would rather Enesce fix the bugs than implement new features and such, but what about rebalancing Soldat. I'm not sure if everyone agrees, but I strongly believe that the current weapon mods are terribly overbalanced. Soldat should take a step in the competitive direction, instead of implanting all the nice and pretty features why not work on making better stable gameplay. If Enesce would spend the time designing a new stable netcode instead of developing all these features I really think Soldat would survive a lot better than it is now. It would also give a boost to the competitive gather communities. The community has actually learned to live with all the small bugs in Soldat, it all adds up over time, and there are TONS of bugs that need to be delt with. I'm not trying to make it look like Enesce is useless, but I think he should be leaning towards making Soldat less casual and more competitive.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

the new weapon mod for 1.5.1 is quite different tbh then 1.5 Its more like 1.2.1 then 1.5. If you wanna try out the latest version you can always check it out at #soldat.mapping pub: soldat://78.46.255.146:25077/
and of course if you wanna help test it more competetively join in on a maptest in #soldat.mapping

#soldat.mapping - #soldat.inc - #soldatladder - #soldat.gather.nordic

The weapon mod isn't the only point in his post.

Fully agreed on the other things.

Give the netcode and the soldat source code to another person beside Enesce THIS will make soldat survive i can guarantee you that.

As long as SOLDAT remain in ENESCE hands we are domed believe me that

Yes. Because EnEsCe is the sole reason as to why soldat isn't as grand as it once was. It's totally all his fault. I mean, it has nothing to do with the players, the beta team, the community itsself. It's just EnEsCe's fault, because he's the most evil guy in soldat, ever. The end.

Mega sarcasm. Seriously, if you don't like EnEsCe you REALLY don't have to play soldat. Really.

And I agree with rebalancing and fixing soldat. It makes more sense than adding features that aren't as nessicary.

Just delete all the code, and rewrite from the very start.

I've agreed many times in the past that bug fixes should have precedence over new features. The most that we can really do in that regard is play test the beta as thoroughly as possible and report every bug that we find in the hopes that it'll be fixed for the final version.

Yes I also agree that soldat has come to a level where we should focus on bugfixing.
And i also think enesce is fully aware of that.
The best thing we can do is to report bugs in the beta and stop whining.

You tell me.

At least deathmatch bug still exists after how many months? Why is that?

Apparently no one reported it. (It was discussed before many times.)

Wow. People still taking a dump on Enesce eh? Did anyone notice that he IS working hard on Soldat? Guess you need someone to point the finger at when you throw tantrums because of a few bugs. *sigh*

If you guys want Soldat to go back to its former glory.. (whatever the f that means, since I think the game is great currently).. get back on the servers and play. Get more servers going and try and involve more of the community - as in, compos, setting up dates for certain games, make more videos (even if you can't use demo recording atm).

Who knows why Enesce is even still working on soldat after the crap the community gives him. I'm sure a few better decisions could have been made with the last major patch, but at least he's working on it?
