Got graphically very violent games?
« on: September 26, 2009, 11:35:52 am »
Recently I bought a postal fudge pack with the infamous Postal game thats just horribly gory in all aspects ("this game is as violent as you are" ...yeah right lol.) while remaining amazingly fun to play and actually quite satisfying.

I was willing to ask if there are more of similar non-horror or minor horror gore splatter games out there to play? Stuff like postal, dead space and such where you can totally screw up stuff bad by chopping things into pieces and then building high towers from the corpses with bucket loads of red paint all over the place?

Be it pc games, browser games or whatever, tell me if there are any.

...

Mods lock this thread in case its violating any rules, but I'd be seriously interested in hearing what other games are out there. PM them to me in case its not appropriate to do here.

Clive Barker's Jericho.

Youll be 100% satisfied. Its is much much much more bloodier than Postal, i played both.
Google-image it for screenshots.

Soldier of Fortune 3 is not bad on graphics and its extreme gore, but the gameplay sucks.
I would go for FEAR 2 (is not that scary...)

Link-Dead/Berzerker :P

Yeah I know about those, I'm looking for stuff that is out already. :P

Are there any older games, or new ones but are light since my computer isn't too good. I can barely run postal 2 with lowest settings. Its playable, but not smooth.
Despite that, please do tell if there are any newer and more heavy games since eventually I'll be upgrading to a new pc in a couple months.

I'll check out Jericho though, looks cool. : O

Soldat- Saw rush wonders.
Cortex Command- Bloodbath clones mod. Name says all.
Bloodrayne
You already mentioned Dead Space.

Nah, dont have that much violent games, for some too lazy to install, or to prevent parents from complaining.

Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

There is no point for gore in games, as you can never really see it. Plus, it just looks like shit.

Unlike you think, gore is an effect and it can play a big role in the visual fun if its good enough. Having people explode into a bloody shower with remains of limbs flying all over the place with physics applied makes killing things way more satisfying than looking at a plain simple death animation where the guy is like "urgh I am dying" and falls to the ground in a boring way.

Seriously though, jrgp, N is not even classified as gore imo.

What I'm looking for is this:

Games with excessive SPLATTER GORE, where loose fingers, crushed bones, chopped up limbs, bloody mist floating in air with SHITTONS blood being blasted all over the walls, ceilings, floors and your face THAT YOUR MONITOR GOES SO RED AND BLOODY THAT YOU CANT FUCKING SEE ANYTHING ELSE.

And the aftermath will look like from your worst nightmare with burned flesh and corpses all over the place with every inch of wall painted with blood and guts and bystanders screaming in terror and running for their lives helplessly as they get wasted brutally and painfully one by one.

Hope I got the message clear.  ::)

Also Jericho looks badass, just saw some vids and trailers of it.
Although I'll need a better rig to run it since its clearly a newer game and seems pretty heavy with effects.

And thats what I'm looking for and there are games that have done it right. Most of them are just so controversial because of it and are hard to find normally. : )

Postal 2 and the added AWP mod is a very good example of gore splatter turned into awesome fun.
RWS is going to release Postal 3 soonish so I'll be sure to check that one out too.

Welll there is some pretty satisfying dismemberment / headshots in Left 4 Dead, but if you can barely run Postal 2, you might be out of luck there. I think it's on the 360, maybe the PS3, but I'm not sure. Oh, also that's pretty horror-oriented, so I dunno. Didn't really scare me, but did often startle me in good ways.

Cortex Command is a pretty good suggestion, but it's been a good few versions since I played, so I don't really know much about it anymore, honestly. Hopefully they've streamlined the basic gameplay a bit.

There... Must be something else, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Maybe Toribash? Tricky to play and not especially realistic, but you get to rip off limbs and the blood splatters all over the floor in pretty patterns (though you'd need a reasonably beefy PC to make those effects work well).

Quake3 Arena, was pretty good. But there is no blood in quake live. There was a mod that had ridiculous weapons, which produced mass amounts of gore. Direct BFG hit made the announcer  say HOLY SHIT!

If you didn't already know, Postal 3 is coming. Here is some screenies
It's gonna be a while though, so you got some time to upgrade your rig.

I love extreme gore and violence in games as well, but you shouldn't overlook other great games just because they don't have it.
