Adding PM permenantly to soldat

I didn't find anything with the search function.

I was thinking, of how useful pm'ing people is. I thought it would be handy if it was added to soldat permanently. Atm its done with a script, and only certain servers have it. I just think it would be good to have.

no.... it's better for private discussion than trolling people, since you can just /ignore. or possibly have some /nopm (number).

No, this sounds good! What if you want to ip someone in the server without telling anyone? OR tell just need to tell them something important or urgent and needs to be private. Stop thinking of all the negatives.

If you use msn, irc or skype, you have to alt+tab which is a pain in the back. So I support this idea for every player. I suggest that you can turn it off or on depending on the server.

And hell yes alt+tab is annoying. Wasn't there ment to be an IRC client installed into soldat?

It's not Soldat's fault that not all servers have some unnecessary script. Don't punish the game by making it a new feature. You don't need it, soldat isn't a chat client.

All servers have the potential to have it, wether or not they do or don't is up to the administrator of the server, so why hardcode something that is completely open and free? It just doesn't make sense to me.

And I don't want this feature at all. How hard is it to GET ON IRC and use it? No wonder people are leaving this game when absolutely useless features like this are being added because one small minority at Soldat forums asks for it.

But I don't dig this. Chatting within a server is already annoying. It effects the gameplay and it's VERY annoying when ppl spect to do so.

Other than that why do you think that it would affect gameplay / make it worse? There won´t be that much visual spam imo and it´s optional to use. Use it or don´t, but dig it

Well it really isn't the visual spam, it just makes ppl afk for a few secs. Not really that big of a deal but it CAN affect the gameplay if the person doesn't spect.

The people go away from keyboard when writing a pm? Didn't know that they are able to do so. Well, it's up to the people what they want to do and if they want to say something they go "afk" anyway, no matter if it's a pm or a normal message.

Well, if server owners want their players to PM, they can install the script.

Yeah no need since Xfire can overlay onto the game and you can talk to people whilst playing.  Or did BE break that?

I have atleast not been able to do that with Xfire. You can use Teamspeak or Vent though.

I was actually referring to xfire's ability to super impose an im chat window on top of the game while you're playing via a certain key combo. I remember that working in 2006 but later releases of soldat probably killed it.

But yeah, ts, vent, and skype are always options.
