I don't think it's overheating.  By the time I've played soldat, it's only been on for an hour and for much of that hour, it's idle.

Also, I've heard that I need to open my ports and maybe that might help.  What does that mean?

I doubt opening your ports will help, seeming that this isn't really caused by your internet connection (the connection lag is only a symptom, caused by your system freezing momentarily and being unable to transmit data).

I haven't got many other ideas on what to do, though. Get a new computer is probably the most surest solution I can suggest. Sorry.
