Seems your computer has turned into a zombie and has been assimilated into a botnet..

1) Norton and everything associated with it is absolute crap and not worth your money
2) Get a real antivirus: AVG, Avast, Avira, etc (they're free)
3) Either run one of them and kill all it finds, or reformat and drop norton forever for one of them (which is better since you're starting off with a clean state and this is the only way you can be sure you're not permf**ked)

Hey I got that screen a few times before, ran Avira, was clean as a whistle. Hasn't shown up ever since, internet still works fine.

Two things to add to this list:
4) Spybot search & destroy (works with trojans and spyware + some, it's free)
5) CCleaner -- helps with cleaning the registry of garbage + I've cleaned 2gbs of "temp" files, cookies and harmless junk off my hard drive + very efficient program uninstaller

With these two applications, I've kept my computer clean and smooth.

Oh yes, and CCleaner allows the user to disable programs that run on start-up, which is incredibly helpful if it takes ages for your system to start, or if you have annoying messages that pop up when your computer boots up (i.e. printer error messages when things work to your satisfaction).

About CCleaner:

I've seen cases where it ended up removing upwards 10GB of old useless cached images, logs, hotfix uninstallers, etc. Just make sure you don't remove certain processes that start on boot, as doing so might disable your antivirus and break drivers, etc.

You don't need to clean a registry unless you get an error message about it.

Do you use a shared connection like on a University? I used to get that but so did my classmates so someone on the network had a virus.

OBEY!!!

As long as you have a proper firewall / anti virus combo that shouldn't hurt you.

Most likely you are using a proxy or an alternative ip adress.
Check your browser connection settings and tcp/ip settings.
If not, than go find a good antivirus.
If other antiviruses/anti spywares can't stop it try using Spyware terminator.
its an anti spyware + it has a powerfull antivirus plugin(i use it for years).

That would explain my case then. Thanks.

get Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, altho, this may delete some of your necessary files, so you might have to reformat when it's done.

well, if it's infected necessary windows files, it isn't fixable. like rootkit viruses isn't easy to fix, even with reformats.

No, reformatting is the one way to truly fix all  malware/virus/etc related programs since you start from a clean state. (this is only effective if you install correct antivirus/firewall software upon reinstallation and make sure you don't insert any flash drives/floppies/burnt cd's that might have viruses on them)

Reformatting deletes every single thing on your hard drive. Unless the reformatting program is damaged, it will delete all viruses.

well... I ussualy don't get viruses from things I download, because I stay to private trackers (never said I downloaded something illigal!!! :O)
so just clearing out the windows files is ussualy enough (since windows itself is a virus, they do include in the manual that their system will damage it's own files, and needs to be reformated after a few years)
