Transparent votebox?
« on: October 11, 2009, 04:44:54 am »
For aesthetics, make the votebox transparent and keep it on screen even after you have given your voice. Also, show how many have voted YES and NO.

Well my idea is, after you have voted, you would see what others have chosen, too. That is why I prefer it transparent - being less annoying for the long voting period.

Yeah, and show the current votes and how long left for voting time please! Like 2 minutes could be the vote time for example.

F12 . I think every player wants just ones to see the vote window with live vote number and that wont block the view. We don't need a big fat window.

Yeah have the box be like the following:

You have voted: Yes
People who have voted Yes: 20
People who have voted No: 5
People who haven't voted: 2
Time remaining: 15 sec.

And have it that with each vote the numbers increase themselves, and have a certain function key or key combo that toggles its existence.

Your Vote: F12
Players who have voted F12: 8
Players who have voted F11: 2
Players still to vote: 2
Time Remaining: 20 Sec

And...maybe as the vote is going on we could have like a percentage going on like 90% F12, 10% F11, like live scoring. It's only a suggestion though.

It was suggested before as far as I remember. And I still think it's good idea.

Umm, no. You misread me. That screen would be shown right after you vote, and pressing a certain key would toggle whether to show it or not.

err... such a useless feature. why don't you go and vote on polls instead of having long and interesting votes in soldat? Oo, also, whats the fucking point in letting those last 2 vote when it's 20 vs 5? atleast make your examples make sense...

Just because he has made an example you don´t like you F11 it directly? Is that all? Really, say sth. productive ... :-X

I totally second this suggestion as I did before. It´s just annoying not to know who´s on your side and who against you when voting.

even if you see the numbers you won't know who's with you or not. this idea is just totally useless, serves no purpose.

Instead of all that nonsense..

why not just put in the f1 menu, a Y next to people who voted yes, and an N next to people who voted no...

and somewhere in the f1 menu, a poll that has a Y with %, and an N with %...

That's just stupid, voting should always be anonymous.

Transparancy is a good idea, though.

Ever had a time when you try to votekick someone and it goes like this:
- kick him, f12!
- I f12d
- F12'd
- Me too
- Same
...
- Why the heck is he still here? Who f11'd?

It's always good to have an idea about how the vote is going and if people are voting at all. Every game I've seen has this kind of counter.

That's just stupid, voting should always be anonymous.
It IS anonymous, as long as it doesn't snow who exactly voted what.

Anyway, to make a vote window even more compact, I suggest instead of having "Your vote: F99" your vote can be shown in bold letters. Something like this:
----------- ----------- ----------- -----------
vote KICK: That Hacking Nubbah (20s)
reason: hax lololol aimbot
 yes (4) ~ no (1) --- not voted (3)
----------- ----------- ----------- -----------

I'll make a mockup for a vote window later.

because the server requiers like 80% or something like that for the vote to pass.

This is an adjustable setting, and it's not the same on every server. Now that you mention it, i'd like to see that displayed in the votebox too.

1. Voting should be anonymous.
2. Don't keep it on screen, because mostly I don't even care what I vote, I just want to get it out f my face!
3 Transparent, sure

Right. And that's how innocent people are getting kicked and noobs aren't.
I personally always care about votes, and I would want to see them on the screen. Keeping that in mind I suggest to add a "hide votes" button which will make your vote not count and hide all votes until you press "hide votes" again.

Adding buttons to already suggested ideas = fail.
Major's whining has already started a riot, so why not just make it transparent, eh? That way it has a 5% chance of making it to the next version.

YEAH! GREAT IDEA! Somebody before me mentioned it. Make voting just as it is right now, but when you vote, you can press F1 and see not only stats but also voting results. How'bout that?

What about a vote result bar?
<votereason here>
===_______  (time till vote end _ gray remaining time = yellow passed time)
YYNNN***** (votes in * gray no vote yet, Y green F12d, N red F11d)
Rules
Tools: ARSSE - SARS - SRB - chatMod
