BMP=PNG?

Hi there. In Weapon-gfx there are for example m429-fire.bmp and m249-fire.png.
What the different about these ones?
(my english sucks, i know)

I think you can remove the .bmp
no need to have both, png is better format

BMPs are the standard files used for Soldat graphics. They have only one transparent channel, which is green 0:255:0. PNGs are a new format that Soldat started recognizing that supports multiple transparent channels, which allows for glowing effects. That's why PNG files are mostly seen used for -fire and -bullet gfxs.

Also, even if a file has a .bmp extension, that does not mean it is necessarily a bmp. Back in the really old days of Soldat where Soldat supported the png file format but didn't recognise the .png extension, modders would commonly take their png files and give them a .bmp extension so Soldat would understand it.

That's a slightly useful fact if you're planning on digging through old mods and editing them.
