Good Movies?
« on: August 10, 2006, 02:35:49 pm »
does anybody know any good war movies or movies that involve a lot of guns/shooting? I really want to see a movie about a sniper (other than Enemy At The Gates...seen it three or four times..).

Any ideas?

Saving Private Ryan! It's one of my favorite war movies.
And it has a nice sniper scene in it. :P

I have that movie on my computer.  It has alot of dialogue, but it's got a nice dramatization of the D-Day (Omaha) invasion.

The last thirty minutes is cool.  Upham was great :D

SVP, Platoon and Black Hawk Down are my top three.

Yeah, Shaving Ryan's Privates
Apocalypse Now as err..no ignore that.
Whats that film.....Full Metal Jacket
Final Fantasy films have cool fighting scenes but they are hardly wars movies.
You mentioned Enemy at the Gates.
I hate Black Hawk Down, one of the worst films I've seen. The game was good though.

Thats about it.
Oh, the Thin Red Line. But thats only got 1 (maybe 2) big fight scenes the rest of it is a psychological war. (if I remember correctly)

My favorite movie is The Borune Identity, it's about this American CIA agent who wakes up on this ship waaaay out in the ocean, but he doesn't remember who or where he is. the people who found him in the ocean also found a bullet in his back somewheres. It projects this stuff onto the wall giving him a bank account number. He find passports, fake IDs, a gun, and a ton of money. He still doesn't know who he is exactly, except that his name is Jason Bourne. He still has what he got from his CIA training, but he doesn't know he's in the CIA. It's a reallty great movie, with some shooting (relatively, not much, but oh well. It's got melee combat =D), and it's really realistic...
But, yeah. xP

Saving Private Ryan, of course, Band of Brothers (its not a movie but it is worth it), Platoon, and Black Hawk Down had good fighting scenes.  Yeh, pretty much what most people mentioned.

Platoon, ...

Damn right! I can't believe the awesomeness of this one, man.

Anyway, anyone ever saw the animated movie Appleseed? It's originally based on the Ghost in the Shell series, but it's computer animated in this case. It's a really cool future movie, and it involves a series of intence fighting - super manga style...

Another good movie would be The Transporter I and II, just in case you want some awesome meaningless shooting. It's really Hitman based, and it's just cool..

You wanna see a movie about a sniper ?

How about:

Sniper

or

Sniper 2

The titles are kinda silly, but they're actually good sniping movies.

I've noticed the films at the movie store, but I never really wanted to rent'em. I always thought the title gave it away - a couple of really lousy movies about a super sniper with a rather futuristic extreme zooming weapon, capable of penetrating rock, steel and flesh... Eventually, ofcourse, he'd fall in love, and be forced to give up his mission, let alone his gun and fight the enemy with his bare hands.

He'd probably end up with the girl in some rocky balcon with flames around it, bleedin' all over the place - DieHard style!

Or what?

If I met a hot girl I would have a rocky balcony right with me :P
Anyway, more like soldat style, he whips out his chainsaw and charges in. He doesn't do it because he falls in love, he does it because the barret takes so damn long to reload.

Hunt For Red October is the best war movie in my opinion, but it lacks shooting.
