Discuss. 

If you, or you know someone that goes to university or TAFE, you can get Professional for $49.95

(which works out to be about $64 when you order the discs aswell, I ordered them and downloaded it from the site)

I'm yet to test any old school games and stuff on it yet, but i'm keen to :)

For the really old school games, like doom/wolf3d/duke3d/etc, they should be able to run pretty well under DosBox. I'm not so sure really old windows games (like quake1) will work well under Windows 7 though.

As for Win7 itself, I've heard it's pretty fantastic in terms of speed, reliability, boot times, etc.

For old school games, I mean the ones that worked on XP but not vista (mostly the late 90s ones made for Win98)

I'm running the 64bit version and so far it's a decent upgrade from Vista. I haven't had trouble running anything so far, but I have had a few driver issues at first. I would suggest getting it if you're still using Vista because it really is much faster.

Tried RC, works perfectly.
Gostek Viewer somehow started to work on it even though it refused to work on Vista....

Also i suggest to try official Madobe Nanami theme sounds.
kawaii level is over 9000!

Yeah I'm using the Nana-tan sounds, slightly modified [removed the chin! sound and swapped around a few of the other sounds].

My favorite part is the much faster shutdown/boot sequences. No longer is restarting a chore to avoid. That plus Nanami saying welcome back made me restart my computer 3 times in a row the other night.

I just upgraded to Karmic Koala and WOW is this a great upgrade! Sweet new looks, faster boot times and lots of bugfixes makes this great! Oh wait, you meant windows. Well yeah I suppose I've heard good things about that too.

yeah, I've been running the release candidates of karmic for about a month or so on my desktop -- and loving it!

But if I ever do start using windows again, it'll be v7. (or whatever the version after that is)

Been running W7 since Memorial Day, and I've installed it on both my grandpa's and uncle's computers.  Everyone I've met loves it, and I'm no exception.
