I can't believe how someone can f**k up one the best alternative routes in Soldat by doing so few changes.

The issue is the map is pretty much traced from the original B2b, but instead of using a fine liner to trace it, they have used a crayon (or in other words lost a load of the details of the map while still being the same shape).

Well yeah. Run looks the same but I wasn't only talking about Run. Could you do that kind of polyworks thing about Laos too?

But why this system ? We have Irc to gather players around the world and even xfire for newcomers, its more efficient imo, soldat chat failed... A beginner just want to play for example on a 2d game and now he has to create an account, reg his key, protect his nick ? waaahh... Seriously, not a easy step for newcomers and not a efficient thing to get more players on our favorite 2d game.

Finally someone that said it all. Your right Spi.deY, Soldat Chat for what? We have IRC and Forums all over the world.

In Soldat you click 2 buttons and you're already playing the game, now newbies will take long time to start to play online. Without it newbies first do some training first, now they take longer to start playing online.

It has, had and always will have someone that will steal a nick, doesn't matter if it's the same or have some different character, they will steal. Ex.:
Grenade Juggler Joe(original)
Grenade  Juggler Joe(stealed, look the double space btw grenade and Juggler)
They are the same, but different.

I know EnEsCe took time doing it, but it's not cool. The idea is interesting, but we can use external apps for some, like WLM, YIM, ICQ, or other to contact with our friends to play Soldat, and if nobody is online, I just enter on any server or some of my favorites servers, or simply play with bots.

Yeah, but just if you know that nick is already registered, let's give an example: someone register the nick "Jlleman", than someone steal it for something like "Jleman", but I never played with Jlleman or just once, so when I play with Jleman i see no difference.
It's just my view, you don't need to kill me.  ;)  hehehe...

well, the lag is horrible in 1.5.1, it takes like 8 ruger to kill (yeah, even when your opponent is running straight forward and you straight backwards. and about 5-9 DE to kill, and a heck load of steyr.

the netcode fix increased eats by about 2-3 times. if you can't code a good udp based netcode, go back to tpc, or let somebody who knows how to actually code code it.

well, the lag is horrible in 1.5.1, it takes like 8 ruger to kill (yeah, even when your opponent is running straight forward and you straight backwards. and about 5-9 DE to kill, and a heck load of steyr.

the netcode fix increased eats by about 2-3 times. if you can't code a good udp based netcode, go back to tpc, or let somebody who knows how to actually code code it.

Soldat was coded with TCP? That's horrible there's a lot more overhead, you can't really make UDP more reliable since there are no acknowledgements. Still I think TCP would make the problem worse.

also, I see that you got very little knowledge about this... lolita = cloths inspired from the rococo period that were during the early 1700 to the mid 1700. while my currecnt picutre is "Ulzzang", which would be translated to english as "best face".

there's also difference between visual kei (oshare kei/visual kei/Angura kei) and lolita, where they can wear lolita or lolita inspired, since cloths need to follow some rules to actually be lolita, if it does not meet those requierment, it's not lolita, which would make it lolita inspired.

Well, to start off, I'm not an Aussie. I'm European, which is probably worse. Secondly, it's rather frightening that you're so knowledgeable about the strange interest in asian girls with huge, buggy eyes. And lastly, just because everyone started using the word "eat" in 1.3.x does not make it a legitimate term. I'm not even sure why it bothers me. Probably because everyone uses it as an excuse. Every time you cap, someone in the server shouts "FUCKING EATER".

Anyway, I don't wanna derail, sorry.

Offtopic: My gf is into gothic-lolita. It is a very creative and artistic clothing style. In Japan there are whole stores dedicated to it. It can look cute, but is not meant to look sexy (as in revealing or ostensibly)... from what I gather.

It bothers you because it makes you think of something you think is bad. Also... yes it is far worse to be European. :P I'm so glad I left Holland when I was but 4 and moved to the best country in the Universe: Canada.

On topic:

For me, concerning lag, I don't know if it is worse, but I have noticed more eating .. that it takes more shots to kill a noob every now and then. However, take into account that I'm in Canada, can only play on one beta eC server and my ISP is so useless and ripoff artists .. they'd try to sell their own faeces spraypainted with gold paint if they could, they are so cheap. I've been noticing more lag in my other games as well, such as MW2 on xbox. After nailing a moronic sniper 3 times in the head with my Cheytac, he turns around sees me.. pauses, then notices I'm alive, then sprays bullets all over the place, but enough to kill me anyway. Wow. Thanks Shaw (my useless ISP).

However, I don't know if it's network or if NSC did something to the physics... I'm finding maneuvering and movement to be a hell of a lot more smoother. I can rocket up with ease and get across the map like lightning - either running or flying. Anyone else notice that? I read through the changelog, but unless I'm blind, didn't see anything about physics or movements being improved.

soldat, just like all network fast paced games such as fps' etc all use a combination of UDP and TCP. TCP for establishing connections, ingame chat, BE, and file transfer. UDP for the ingame movements and actions. 'netcode'

just using either TCP or UDP is impossible.

About the flagger-impermeable polys, wouldn't this then enable you to make "Racoon Traps" where you can get into the flag-spawn just fine, but you can't get out unless you let go of the pretty shiny thing?

...Wait, if you throw the flag, would it travel through these polys?  I guess you'd then be able to get the flag out of "impossible" locations, but it would be complicated, confusing, and risky.  And then to score, you'd have to do another flag-toss.

Well, this option will certainly make things more...interesting.

Alt+F1 - F3 are hotkeys for your custom lag settings.
Alt+F4 will disable the lag entirely.

wow...why most of the ppl hates the soldat portal?
i think is a great idea now is easy to play whit ur friends and is a way better to start the games is like a xfire inside the game
check stats all that stuff i think is pretty nice and a rlly big step for soldat
i can say that i have to congratz u enesce for this beta version i hope this one get to the full version now
and also ppl say that omg...i hate this cause i lost time of making my account...it just take 2 minutes
cmon...u guys are rlly that lazy?
making the accounts improves the game alot
for me its ok i think it could work.

I think why most people didn't like the account system was because it wasn't needed. 1.5.1 is suppose to fix all the problems 1.5 has, not leave what needs to be fixed not fixed and add a account system. Same with the maps and all that. NSC really just needs to sit down and work on a nice polish version of soldat with minimum bugs and eats has possible, but we all know thats not gonna happen.

using only TCP or UDP is possible, UDP would be very unrelialbe, since it is. therefore TCP is used for the connecting. TCP in game would be possible, but since it's very slow, the pings would be very high, and may not work that well. however, using only TCP would almost be better than this current UDP based netcode.
