Access Violation problem
« on: November 11, 2009, 07:42:11 am »
Well, my problem is following:

When I playing soldat on DirectX 9.0c I'm getting this error during playing map:

Then when i press "OK" i hear sound, but screen is frozen. I must press ctrl+alt+del and close soldat.

Everything else going fine, except that case.

While I playing soldat on DirectX 9.0b soldat works perfect: I'm not getting any errors, AV or smth like that.

I'm useing Windows XP without any firewall.

I tried everything: Install various versions of DX 9.0c, reinstal soldat, reinstal windows, enable/disable video compatibility, full/window mode, different fonts and any other i found on forum.

P.S. I would like to fix this problem and play on DirectX 9.0c, because reinstalling DX for playing different games is getting boring.

P.S.2 I used "Search" thing. Sadly there was nothing that could help me.

I forgot one thing yet:

Sometimes on DX 9.0c of course I'm getting that error instead of Access Violation:

Obviously on DX 9.0b I've never got this error.

GeForce 4 MX 440

I've done backup files from DX 8.1 from my Windows disk. Then I installed DX 9.0c from 2006 year and copied d3d8.dll from DX 8.1 to system32 folder. Now in dxdiag is shown older version of d3d8.dll file. From that point I haven't got AV or External error yet. I hope, I fixed it.

well as far as i know, apps are instructed to search for dlls in the exec folder and then in system folders so it might be a good idea to put that old d3d8 dll in the soldat folder instead of in the system one so you dont have problems with other games

GeForce 4 MX 440
*throws up*

That was my old card. So glad I got that piece of crap replaced.

By the way, the GeForce 4 MX 440 only supports up to DirectX 7.
