The weekend, 3 days long?
« on: November 14, 2009, 07:49:31 am »
Just as I was waking up from sleeping in too long this morning, it hit me. Why do I only get two days of rest for 5 days of work. I get so tired in school, and it really bugs me. Mondays are ok, but Fridays, it's like, go kill your self sir, I CBA.

So I was thinking, can we have another day on the weekend. Sure, it might make stuff a bit odd to start, but after, we would all benefit from it, alot. Who thinks this is a good idea? I sure do!  ;D

Slowly it might actually come to this, but before it was unthinkable due to all the work needed to be done in order to earn the money to survive.

As for me, I'm cool with the 5 workday thing.
I would suggest having a 4 days work, 3 days rest for school kids. And not in a row, but every other day is a working day and the next one is free day. It would help absorb all the information learned from the previous day.

5 days of work, 2 days of rest, standard and it works. If it doesn't work for you, that means you need more rest. If more rest doesn't help, you are seriously unhealthy, do some exercise.

As for schools in my place, there is one school day that usually ends earlier (2 periods earlier, that's about 1 hour). For my school, it's Friday, but personally I'd prefer it if it were Wednesday. Next year I'd probably be graduating into another school, so this may be different.

Yeah, I do need a tad more sleep. I do wish our schools were like some American schools. 4 days in 3 out. 5 in 2 out isn't really enough to be fresh for each week. When I do get sleep, even the 5 day thing tires me out after 2 straight months.

Why do I only get two days of rest for 5 days of work.

Because God rested like a lazy git on the 7th day (Saturday) and someone decided Sunday should be devoted to prayer, not because it's the first day but because Jesus is a sun god.

So.. if you don't like the way it is I recommend you burn down every church you see and we'll take it from there.

Wasn't it the Jews that eventually gave us Saturdays off, because that's their Sunday? Just be thankful it's not a six-day workweek anymore.

Weekends doesn't pertain to off days to everyone.

Weekends can't be 3 days anyway...
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday

They are the weekends for a reason.

If you're not sleeping enough, you need to learn time management.

The first part of 11th grade I would get no more than 3-5 hours of sleep a day, even skipping sleep for once or twice a week. I felt like shit in the mornings but when the evenings hit, I was really energetic.

6 hours at school and another 3 astronomical hours for TOEFL preparation. After that I'd spend what's left of the day working my ass off with my friends on the countless useless projects they made us do at school.

Until I get to my house I'd loose all will to sleep and I'd spend the night on my PC. That continuous lifestyle corpsed me. At times I felt like a ribcage full of cancer, but luckily I didn't develop any diseases or anything serious.

Get all the sleep you can, cuz once you're in the karmic "awake at night, asleep during the day" circle, you can only break it by not sleeping the next day and surviving until 6-7 PM.

And sleeping 3 hours instead of 5 will feel much better for some odd reason.
Maybe not being able to fall asleep too deeply.

No. It was the Christians that eventually gave us Sundays off, because they don't know how to read the Old Testament properly.

Unfortunately at a school they dont really offer that much of a choice and often you are forced to chew some crap information about stuff you dont really need at all.

For education, the 4/3 days thing would work great.
For work, 5/2 or anything else you see fitting for you is good.

History lessons. Nuff said.
Libraries are ment for that and not to waste childrens hours on forcefully reading that bulls**t.

And religion is another big one. Out of the window too.
