Unfinished maps
« on: November 18, 2009, 10:10:29 pm »
I have quite a few unfinished maps, and I am curious as to hear what the mapping community has to suggest about any of them. (Finish some, ditch some, layout stuff, etc)

mm_hidden (underground map)

dm_fallout (tropical island in a nuclear winter)

ctf_steamroll (bouncy polygons map)

ctf_thanatos (straightforward bottomless map)

inf_uvula (smallish inf map)

Thanatos looks the best, and layout seems cool.
But to prevent annoying m79 fliers you should put a big wide ceiling on top of it.

EDIT*
Some ideas to polish Fallout map

Nice suggestion on the Fallout map, smiluu. I've been looking forward to finishing that map somehow. :)

mm=?

Mission Mod subgamemode created by zakath. I made only one map of that mode for him, and this one is apparently unfinished.

Canyon drop inf map anyone? The top border could be a bridge or something like that.

Keep in mind, make map borders in such a way that it makes the player want to escape the boundaries of the map to continue exploring (but of course, they can't). It just adds that special touch, and I have to admit, I haven't ever really employed this strategy because it just means that extra "bonus" work that you have to do. (example: making an extra interesting look tunnel that looks like it continues somewhere interesting; games do it all the time)

Did some more work on inf_uvula. I'm including the mapfile as well because I need to know if some parts of the map look a bit cluttered, because I want to avoid that. .PMS because the custom sceneries I've used are pretty common.
