Yeah it's true that advertisers suck, yadda yadda yadda. Old news.
Oh please, money is the gateway to most anything. So yes, indirectly, "the desire to thrive" may be held in that position, but money is the direct means for which to do many-a-thing.
And who cares if it is greed or ambition. Regardless on what is agreed upon, the same underlying principle is in play (hording/excess/power.. whatever you want to call it).
You're side of the argument is convoluted. Please elaborate.
And with the money being indirect or not, we all know how the personal monetary system works (or know enough to recognize that one needs money to obtain their materialistic goal).
It makes the world go 'round.
