Expensive Headphones > Expensive Speakers

Headphones are way better because they provide privacy and comfort.

Expensive monitors are way better than expensive headphones almost everytime.

- they give much better bass response.
- it's more comfortable because you are not wearing anything at all.
- you get much better clarity with monitors over headphones. If you take a standard 128 kbp mp3 file, which mp3 files are COMPRESSED music, you can almost immediately tell the difference with the monitors.

The only time you can see the headphones are is for privacy at public transportation or casually listening in a room .

I had the G35 untill recently when one of the ear cups just broke off like a twig. I was simply adjusting the height of the headset. Great sound though, but such horrible quality cannot be justified for headphones in that price range.

Went back to my former one, Steelsound 5hV2. Still works great.

Looking to buy either the sennheiser pc350 or the Icemat Siberia v2

Foxconn, what's the point? And how much were they?
Headphones are like everything else, you get what you pay for.
Although I think I am with Psycho and will probably get a steel series headset.

I'd like to not look like an air traffic controller while talking on skype. I've got a cheapo logitech wrap-around thing which works fine except that over time they get pretty uncomfortable.

If you have no privacy like myself and still want to listen to music, game, watch movies, ect spending the extra money is really worth it.

I have a friend that has a set of "Beats" by Dr.Dre. They are tight! Like two hundred bucks but so tight. Its like a small Sub woofer on each side of your head. I had them at the time plugged into his tv. Watching a blue ray movie. Cant even remember what the movie was now come to think of it... But they kicked a*s.

If i had to i would get the same style i have for my x-box. They wrap around the back of my head and the microphone works great. Cant remember the brand as i got them from my friend but they are completely wireless and retail for like 50 usd.

Pioneer SE-MJ5
Damn good. High volume and high quality sounds. My ears get an orgasm if I listen to songs that have bass in it.

They cost me around $100 ,a little less.

http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards-computer-audio/368653-ocnhc-guide-gaming-headphones-headsets.html

Read it, instead of wasting money on "gaming" headphones.

Got Sennheiser rs 130's (wireless) and right now a pair of Sony MDR-CD60's for gaming + Xtreme Music X-Fi sound card = awesome

Going to get a better pair of wired ones later for $50-100 ( if they're on sale that's even better because my RS 130's only cost $60 because of the sale on Amazon :D ) or unless I find an awesome pair at goodwill lolololol

The head phone's name is Dr. Dre's "Beats". They're pretty expensive, you'll be discouraged if you know the price.

Been using koss ksc75 for years. Decent sound, and open design lets me hear some stuff around me when biking etc.

Got ATH-M50 some time ago too for 150€ or so. Awesome sound, good enough for listening to stuff at home and mixing imo. Maybe not the best choice for a casual listener though, since those are studio headphones with pretty flat sound (not a problem for those weird enough to use an EQ though =P )

Missed this thread before. God, some of you people are hurting my brain with what you are buying. There is zero reason to buy Dr. Dre Beats unless you like getting raped to have a name branded headphone. They're not terrible, but they are far overpriced for what they are. I mean...so many people in here with skull candy (overpriced crap), dr. dre, and that horrific logitech 'gaming headset'.

For the same price (or less) you can get Sennheiser HD 595 or Audio Technica ATH-A900 which are superior. Right now I'm running the 595s through the Headroom Total Bithead amp, it's glorious.

The A900s are shipping to me right now for gaming purposes, I already have Zalman clip on mic ready to go when they get here.

Before you buy headphones you should really look into what you're buying. Most gaming headsets are ripping you off, especially if they're 5.1. Why not get a nice pair of headphones for a far lower price and then attach a mic to it. The Zalman one (which will be recommended by pretty much anyone) costs less than 10 bucks.

At least noone in here paid out the ass for something from Bose.
