Camping
« on: January 11, 2010, 04:44:16 pm »
So, we all know what it is. Staying in the one stop, defending it(and not spawning enemy's). Its effective at holding a location, taking down a large amount of enemy's and so on. Soldat's Barrett even has a zoom function, so why do people hate it? If its not specifically forbidden in a set of rules, why do people vote kick you, there's no reason for it. There are ways round campers, example, most maps feature alt routes to take, and cover to go to. So, what do you guys have against it, if you do have anything against it.

Although I'm against discussing this, cause it's been stated a thousand times already, I'll put share my opinion on it: It's not wrong, unfair, or lame, unless it is done excessively, like staying in the same spot for more than 5 minutes. (My standards/not a camper)

it's not a part of the game, and is just wasting one slot.

Isn't trolling the equivalent of that in here?
Just saying...
On topic: It's a valid and smart strategy, no rules forbid it, nowhere.

No reason to kick for it.

But it definitely does take something away from the game.

I just dislike campers...you can hold in place for a couple of seconds but staying behind same bush for 2 minutes and after being killed going to take place in same spot is simply, no offence here intended, brainless.

Yes, but it's usually f11ed.
Next time you kill this guy with 200 meters barrett spray shot you'll be voted(for..CAMPING? O_O). Again f11s, but sometimes it kicks :-S

And I love when you run through the whole map with barrett, then see your enemy in the far corner of your camera, you stop and shoot him down. And he says that you're a camper because on his screen you was standing still when he noticed you. Nice...

More then 5 minutes? Whats the point in holding a spot if your not gonna stay there? You can't have it both ways...

ok.. it's a valid and utterly retarded strategy...
Why? Whats so retarded about defense?

I just dislike campers...you can hold in place for a couple of seconds but staying behind same bush for 2 minutes and after being killed going to take place in same spot is simply, no offence here intended, brainless.
I agree, but inly if you get killed repeatedly(3 or more). If you die and go staright back theres no problem if you can pull it off.

As you play more serious games like CWs and Gathers (I assume), you are correct that camping is infact no good there. In serious games, attacking is the best way to win a match since defending gets you no where.
The most ultimate that I could imagine camping in these games is to temporarily give support fire to another unit or protecting the efc when he's far enough.

Public servers is where the camping is ok because its often not a serious game in pubs, but just to have fun and screw around.

Camping doesn't take much skill, and it's very boring. Soldat is a face paced game, so I rather no campers. But saying that, a good soldat player shouldn't give a shit, because its quite easy to take out a camper with your spray.

MM himself said, and I quote; "Camping is a valid tactic, and there are no rules that prevent it, unless certain servers do".
We're free to do it, it's our own goddamn risk.

Worst, idea, ever... Camping is apart of the game. So bugger off. If you dont want campers, disable barret in Soldat.ini.

Couldn't find Michal's quote, must've read it on another site, but this here is a quote from Enesce who is currently the "king" of soldat, as many would call him.
