It was just a guess because Google Chrome did baaaad things to my PC before.

I'm sure even then it was something unrelated.

Maybe you've downloaded the version that is not compatible with the version of windows you are running? lol
The big green download button links to the vista/7 x64 version, so if you have something else you can browse v0.6.5b folder in the All files section. This is indeed a bit confusing, but BA doesn't have a proper unified installer and SF doesn't recognize different windows versions as separate platforms.
Anyway, i suggest to wait a bit until i release new 0.7.1 version later today. Btw release notes for it are already available.

Ok, new version is released!
Now Baka Admin has SolTV feature!  8)
Also new release includes a lot of bug fixes, mostly for XP users.

See the first post for the download link.

Make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX 9 installed
(even if you already have directX 10 or 11) and configure SolTV.ini before using it for the first time. Every tab can have it's own SolTV window. Press F1 to get list of SolTV controls.

SolTV is cool, way better then ESA's one, GJ, but I have little problem with it.
With font to be exact.
I run it at Vista 32bit. DX9 package is installed. GPU drivers are just fine.
What type of font are you using there? Font files are missing?

PS. I guess you can see (so far I can can't due to "font issue") chat console in SolTV window - so what about idea to give users possibility to type there? Just little text box.
Yet another fancy way to chat with people at server. While actually seeing them.

When I try to install DirectX 9 i get an error saying "An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem." So I checked the folder and this is what it says...

In Baka Admin's SolTV, the F1 controls menu is hard to read with the text behind it (F3 to remove the text, but still, need to read the F3 to know that ^^ it's a higher up one i could read kuz bg was dark enough). Also it seems the middle mouse button does not take me to free cam (windows xp version), although ctrl+* does. Is there a way to move the camera after being in freecam?

I'm guessing it tries to find the map from the Soldat's directory? Two things:
I suggest support multiple directories (or a direct link(s) to the maps folder).
I suggest having the admin client download the map if the maps directory does not have the map (or there are missing files).
(Sorry if either of these are supported already, I didn't look/try very hard to see.)

Atredes/GfF SolTV is using "Default system font" which supposed to be something simple that is available and working at any condition. I'm surprised that it fails to work on your system. I guess i'll change it to Courier New just like in the server log. Also i've noticed another thing: does the top part of BA window have such black background all the time? It shouldn't be like this.

DorkeyDear Middle mouse button is for panning, e.g. you press it and drag the map. It works just like in PW. I can add support for several maps folders (3 would be enough i think), but map downloading won't be added probably.
  • If the server doesn't support map downloading it won't work anyway.
  • Baka admin will require a write access to Maps, Scenery-gfx and Textures folders but it's designed to use only User folder where it will not face any restrictions.
  • A sudden map downloading can cause additional inconvenience for players (e.g. they are having a duel/clanwar and connection to the server isn't that fast).
  • I assume that you have full access to the server if you are an admin there. And admins are usually the ones who upload maps there.
Anyway to walk around this you can press join game button and let soldat download the map. So this shouldn't be a big issue.

Instead of whining like a noob, I'll show off your fantastic working product on my humble XP Pro with a windows classic theme (because I'm a nostalgia***). (see attached)

Also the netinstall of directx9 didn't work for me; it complained about not being able to fetch the file. I used the full download instead: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/DirectX-9.0c-Redistributable-Download-3545.html

Only complaint I have is that it isn't very smooth. The players seem sorta jerky.

jrgp From your screen shot it seem that you are also having problems with the font SolTV is using. To improve visual experience you can enable interpolation in SolTV.ini (along with Antialiasing and texture filtering). It's using simple linear interpolation so it won't be extra smooth, but definitely much better than completely without it. Also you may need to adjust refreshX rate depending on the server connection. Since admin protocol is TCP it's very sensitive to server ping / connection quality and at higher refreshx rates SolTV will tend to lag more.

mk, thanks.

hmm. Why don't I see the ping of the server relative to the admin client itself?

I never thought that such a feature can be required... It doesn't seem that easy to implement...

But i've got another idea: how about SolTV capable of recording demos? Will such a functionality be used?
