Can a cristian explain how is it possible for god´s word (supposedly the bible) to become outdated (like you say "some of it has become outdated")?

Here are some options:
God is not timeless.
The world has developed differently than god intented.

If it has become outdated, why doesn´t god publish "the modern testament"?

Actually you know what pls dont answer this, im sure the answers will not be answers at all.
I eat EFCs for breakfast (with a lot of ketchup ...)

The world HAS developed difernetly then what God intended according to the bible, since that contains the rules and regulations, which were not followed by all people and therefore we live in a diferent society then what was intended, once again in relation to the bible.

Don't ask stupid rhetorical questions like why God hasn't published a modern bible...You could ask why God hasn't stopped natural disasters or famine or world wars...The point is God does not have a hand in the life of humans, what was done in the beginning was just a beginning and has had no lasting impact. So as I was saying, various things in the bible have become outdated in modern times.

Also, if the Pope wanted to I'm sure he could do something about a new bible adition, him being Gods representative on Earth :S

Whats the use of a god when we can control our own lives?

Can you stop a bullet going through your brain? Can you stop rain from falling? Can you make the sun rise or set?

There are so many things about our lives we can't control, to think we can is foolish. Religion or not.

On the question about Bible being outdated. It's not, the same problems people had then, we have now. The Bible actually has something to say about this issue:

Ecclesiastes 1:9:
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.(NIV)

You have the same problem as Mangled*, only from the other side. You both ignore large parts of the bible, intentionally or just by ignorance I can't quite tell.

  • Why are these accounts of depraved sexual instances sacred? Why did God include these in his book? (That's right, don't forget God told all of the collaborative writers of the Bible what to write!)
--->Actually, the holy spirit inspired the apostles to write their 4 bibles.

  • Are these parts of the Bible intended as erotic literature? Are they just filler? To entertain us? To attract suggestible readers? Is it possible that a major religion of today is based upon ancient pornography?
--->The bible handles ALL issues of our lives, raising a family/lust being one of them, and it's not for entertainment, it's for guidance.

I ignore nothing, the question is; which person is misinterpreting it?

my favorite chapter was the one where david had a fight with that huge ugly guy. they all thought that goliath was going beat the little boy

but then he takes out his sling and puts some rocks in it. he spins the sling and they hit the giant. the rocks didnt do much though if i remember correctly. then the holy dragon flies over the mountain and starts breathing fire and shit all over everyone and theyre all like FUCK THIS SHIT IM BURNING ALIVE so then the firefighters and paramedics are all shitting themselves trying to sort everything out while some guy is trying to tell them that they havent discovered penicillin yet. the robo-demons are firing lasers back at the dragon but its all bouncing off cause he also had mind rays

i dont remember the rest but im pretty sure david takes all the glory and then goes to chill with jesus for a bit

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Valid question: Is Mangled edgy for making this thread?

Answer: as hell.
I attend grammar school, last grade, and ignorance is all around me. Well, good for them. Ignorance is bliss.

God and Jesus showed up later in the night as well. God started playing drum while Jesus played guitar.

Depending on your viewpoint, it's either Non-Fiction or Historic Fiction, regardless of the sexual content.

It was a baptist camp... what do you expect? Only way it could have been worse is if it was a Evangelical or Pentecostal camp.

Yeah. Even my religious high school seemed like a scientific funhouse with open minded people compared to most of the fellows I've met there, the pastor included.

(and my school had the notorious habit of firing the best teachers for immoral reasons such as a) being gay b) writing erotic poetry c) being involved with one of the students.

To be fair though, my RE teacher/school priest was awesome, he studied in Oxford and I got a lot of what I know from him. Too bad we fell out after he did an after school lecture about intelligent design once and I ripped it apart. The irony? He sent me in the direction where I found the friggin' contrary evidence to everything he said.

Blimey.)
