My church donated the tithe last sunday, my money was in there so I guess I have done "something". Tossing money at a problem isn't going to fix it. People is what is needed. However we are overrun with retards that think wearing a red hat is going to help someone.

But people can't do anything without money

Oh really now?
It's called manpower, human resources, the most valuable resource there is, it can't be bought with money as far as I know.
People willing to make a difference CAN make a difference.
The problem is there's very few of those left in this world.

People is what is needed.

But then you need to feed/shelter/care for the people you send.

The money we're giving as the USA is money that wasn't ours to begin with lol. We borrow too much :|

It's a shame it happened, but I refuse to give a reaching hand out to people who stupidly risk their removal from the gene pool by living on fault lines, near woodlands prone to wildfires, coastal areas below sea level etc. There's much better things to spend the money on.

its funny because most of the people who donate to charity dont realise that their money is going straight into the pockets of the people who run it

then some ***got will say 'THATS WRONG the donations are surveyed and recorded by government bodies and such to make sure that doesnt happen'

NO IM NOT JOKING SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT
ye man, everyone should take a plane down there and donate their 20 dollars by themselves, then it won't get taken by some greedy people.
what you're saying is pretty much your excuse to not donate, surely some of the money might get "stolen" but it do partly get to where it's needed.

The majority of them were/are too poor to leave.
There are other worlds than these

A shortage of money shouldn't stop a determined man fighting for his life.

This

Coming from someone that has struggled with having any money, then not having to worry about money at all, then having to struggle even harder for money.  Money ain't everything, it doesn't have the power everyone says it does. People give stuff power.

haha blacksheep i totally agree....we owe like china so much...like in the billions
its kinda sad....
but that's my point tho...we owe so many other countries so much money.
....actually i kinda thought about it....haha even if something like this DOES happen to us...
We are screwed cause we'd ask all these other countries to help us out, and we'd be in MORE debt.

Rampant scams involving Haiti donations in exactly this style are currently flooding the Internet. It's very dangerous to donate to an organization that is not extremely well known and reputable for its integrity.

The Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the BGEA are the only organizations that should be donated to, as a general rule of thumb.

I have access to two planes via old contacts, pays to have friends who can fly a plane, and owe you a favor.
And I just so happen to live in a place where food/medicine prices aren't skyrocketing...

To be honest then I don't give a s**t about people dying there and s**t. There are 6,692,030,277 (GOOGLE FTW) people on the Earth. That seems too much... Isn't it?

You should learn to empathize a little. The internet breeds sociopaths.

If the problem is our lifestyle, then that's what we have to change, not how many of us there are. And the problem is exactly that our population is too large; not for Earth, but for the way our civilization is structured. And besides, we need to learn to utilize the oceans as living space (how cool would underwater apartments be?), considering that 70% of our planet is covered in them.

I don't really think we need to worry about that quite yet. The world isn't overpopulated as much as it is dense. This coming from someone who lives in New Jersey. The human populous just needs to be spread around a bit.

Open up Google Maps/Earth sometime and look at the midwestern United States, or northern Canada, or nearly two thirds of Russia. There's so much unbuilt land in the world, it's beautiful. I want to roll around in it.
