Faster Mouse Sensitivity
« on: February 11, 2010, 09:28:40 am »
Seriously, 200% isn't enough. I thought boosting my mouse in Windows would do the trick, but that doesn't effect Soldat in-game.

:(

Winpointer speed won't Affect in-game cursor speed. In my opinion 200% is enough. Buy mouse with higher DPI. Or google to find mouse accelerator.

my current mouse is a 1000 dpi shit and i disable the acceleration, i mostly use 200, but its very enough to realign after deagles recoil.
When i play normal mode, i use 80 sensy to play ruger and 130 to autos, 180 deagles.
The sad thing about the next version is that you only can change 1 by 1 sensy percent with ctrl+alt++. So its almost impossible to use many sensys, cuz you cant change faster enough in 4/5s respawn time.

Btw: whats the maths? more DPI more sensy, less DPI less sensy?

DPI - Dots per Inch (not sure about that) - it means the higher the value is bigger sensitivity is due to fact that your mouse is more precise, works in higher resolution. Hopefully I think so. :D

Do ya use the same sensy for ruger and deagle? I do not, since 1.5, you can change it in-game, so its nice to use many sensy for many weapons. I use:

80 - barret/ruger/
130 - autos/m79
180 - deagle / 200 - realistic deagle

Now i will have to figure an ideal sensy to use cuz the percent on 1.5.1 changed to 1. Btw the last 5 months i am using 200 for all, its hard to play with, but maybe someday i will get used to.

How can I give lessons to native speaker like you, S4R? Just realised I cannot since I'm dumb Pole, so you were supposedly right about that word.

@biohazard
I'm using same sensitivity for all weapons.

On topic:
So you can change in-game sens by holding crtl-alt-+ ? Fine. How about another suggestion: ctrl-shift-alt-+ could increase sensitivity much faster, for example +10?

I've always played with the default sensitivity and I have had good days with every weapon.

I'm pretty sure most uses the same sensitivity for all weapons, I think many uses the default one too.

why so high o.O i'm at around 20-25% and i know players at ~12%. I use to have the default for years but I've found my aim is alot better with lower sens.

I figure the same. Less sensy better aim. I know ppl that play with 25%, but i cant even move my cursor with that.
I had disable winXP mouse accelaration. And the last 2/3 years i play mostly the worst normal mode weapon(deagle). So all i need to do is use lots of my jet doing movement tricks to get high speed, which means some cballs and stuff, so i need to aim back and front faster, and dont lose the aim.
Since i need to realign and shoot 3 times per second, deagles with high sensy is nice to play. With autos you really dont need to uber realign, all you need is to aim smoothly on spray, ruger has a low fire rate so its better low sensy, and 1shot the same.
For deagles high sensy is the must, and the ppl that play with me ever says that i never miss 1 shot(middle range), even if the b***h perform wormming, what is almost truth. Btw i think i got much to learn about playing with that s**t weapon.
Since the mouse with 200% sensy is very faster, i got to concentrate to stabilize it in the screen, if i dont concentrate well enough i play badly. Btw its a test i am doing since ima back playing the 1.5 (6 months). Its like a fighter with 5kg things on his hands, someday i will figure if i get better somehow.

Another trick, that i tested alot offline to perform, is the backshot, which you can do with delay weapon like knife, barret and law too. (WTF is that s**t haxor!):
Press fire button facing back to the guy, and at "tick" move faster the cursor to kill the guy, and move back again, even it seems to yourself its not the so called backshot, to another players it seems so.
If you got low sensy, it will be lame. The fashion style is the must, and somehow usefull to avoid ppl worming you knives, since when you shoot, it seems like a no delay knife cuz your delay fire is done backshooting.

p.s.: ima nubaxor

Hello :)

Thx for the trick BioHAzard.
Just tried it a couple minutes ago on a knife server.
Asked my victim how it looked like and it seems to work perfectly :)

On the subject of sensi. I have a mouse with adjustable dpi. So I keep soldat sensi to default.
(sensi:100, dpi:1280) (windows acceleration disabled)

I use deagles and knives.

Holy shit...
I'm using 50% on the windows mouse config, and 75% on soldat options, and it's very fast to me, planning on changing it to 70%...

If you don't tell your mouse dpi, your sensi means nothing.
It's a bit like if there was a hole in the equation.

sensibility depends on resolution you are using too. Like 200 on 800x600 is slower than 640x480.

He's right.
If it's not fast enough with 200.
You should buy a new mouse with more dpi than the one you are currently using.

@biohazard: It's impressive you can aim so well with a sensy that high!

I'm a very bad aimer, so I'm trying to make progress.
I think I'm making some but It's a slow process.

Lowered gradually my dpi since my last post.
Today I played with 777 dpi.
I'm also trying to look more at the cross-hair as suggested in a guide that was posted on this forum.

High sensy helps with alternating supermaning, cannon balling and realign for shooting tho.

That makes it hard to find a compromise between speed and precision.

I only play since a year and a half so I don't know if my advice will have much credit here;
But I think it's useful to try other sensy than the default one. And in the end finding one you like.
