Key to finding a clan in the competive soldat clan scene is to join irc and playing gathers which is a bit like training for clanwars. here is how you do that;
Step 1: Download and install mirc.
Get it here
Should be nothing strange to install it really basically just click next, next...

Step 2: Connect to Quakenet.
When mirc is installed start it. And when you clicked your way through the welcoming screen a window similar to this should come up.

Here you fill in all the empty fields(you need to fill them all however you dont have to supply correct details).
First with your name(Full Name), your email(Email Address) and then what you want to call yourself(Nickname, Alternative).

As you see in this example it says "Server: Dalnet Random server" in the red marked area.
This we need to change to a Quakenet server. So click on "Server" in the menu to the left(red marked in the picture).

In the server window there is(in picture marked red) dropdown list that lists a lot of servers you can connect to.
Scroll down to quakenet and choose for example a "Quakenet: Random SE Server".
If you filled in the details on the last page all you have todo now is to click "Connect To Server" and you should be connected to the Quakenet server.

Step 3: Get a Q account
When connected to servers simply write:
/msg Q HELLO youremailaddress youremailaddress

In this case you have to supply a valid email address that you have
You will now get an email with instruction on how to get and user your account

Step 4: Join the gather
So after you have logged in with your Q account you are now ready to join and start playing.
now simply type:
/join #channel
where you exchange #channel for a gather channel:
#soldat.gather - European gather
#sna.gather - North American gather
#nasoldat - North American gather
#soldat.gather.de - German gather
#gather.pol - polish gather
#soldat.gather.nordic - nordic gather
#soldat.realistic - realistic gather
then when you are there there are usually some kind help trigger like !help !howto !commands or such
but in short it goes something like this:
!on - starts a gather
!add - joins a gather
and when its full you get a pm with soldat url to the server and your assigned team, where you play best out of 3 where usually alpha picks first map and then bravo picks second map and if there is a tie a tiebreaker map is played.

and if you play enough and learn to know ppl there is quite a high probability that you either start or join a clan.

#soldat.mapping - #soldat.inc - #soldatladder - #soldat.gather.nordic
