Saw it tonight. Fantastic movie. I'll have you know that there are very valuable lessons to be learned from this movie. And shut up right now all of you "philosophy haters/cynics." You will not be tolerated, at least, by me, in this topic.

The main character. Narcissistic, yes? For those of you who saw the first movie, you know what I mean. BUT, he sticks to his "path" and doesn't give anyone power over him, or rather, doesn't give up his power. Learn how to do this, stick to your guns, and you will go far. Keep in mind, he did listen to well-reasoned advice at times. I advise you to do the same, but test it's validity first, and "qualify"/test the person for soundness and depth.

DO NOT BACK DOWN. Go go go.

Here is an example. Several of my family members have problems, deep down inside. After the movie, I aimed for the core of my sister's problems, and "played no games." Honesty plays no games. And I was right. I stuck to my "guns" and now she's questioning her own screwed up ways of thinking, and she actually apologized to me for acting so defensively, and since I didn't belittle her, I forgave her with "no harm done" (this being a very rare occurrence in our confrontations). Now here's a warning for those who read this: make sure you are right first, and then be merciful, but SOLID. Don't insult them... directly. The person may be insulted regardless of how truthfully nice you are, but this is different from being offended from "direct insult."

Capeesh? By the way, it is mature first, to be very direct, and second, to be very direct without directly insulting the person. Insult to injury... not recommended if you want to get anywhere.

iron man has a suit which gives him superhuman powers. in the real world everyday people dont have any power unless they are extremely rich famous or smart. none of which applies to anyone here. thats just incase you thought that advice might be useful

also you speak about truth a lot in your post almost as if you actually believe you know better than the rest of your family and everyone here. my advice is that you consider the possibility that you are wrong

In all honesty, brudda, every flick has valuable lessons to teach if you bother to look for them. I don't think Iron Man is supposed to be taken extra serious in comparison to any other film. It was an AWESOME movie, no doubt, but it all boils down to a good ol' action superhero movie.

Don't get me wrong, if it inspired you, so much the better.

I wasn't wrong. How can you be wrong about the truth? And here is "the truth" that I mean: This particular family member was, and has been over years, socially uncomfortable. I "confronted" her. The reason why I had to "stick to my guns" was because she has actually deceived herself into thinking that her feeling socially awkward is forever. Fortunately, I know otherwise.

When someone is so damn convinced of one thing, while you know another, you need to be able to strategically keep your opinions strong (without pulling the sort of "because I said so" bull s**t type of strategy).
