So....i just got a "possession of marijuana" charge today.
Never got in trouble before, and never smoked before.
and apparently my roommate called it up, instead of just saying "hey dude dont do that" or whatever. but yeah, i have no idea what kind of fines/punishments i have to face as i have never gotten in trouble with the law like this..
and im 18 so apparently that makes it worse.

anyone have an idea or similar stories?

Wait, wait. You got caught with weed? Did you willingly have it on you or was it planted? Was this in the US?

If you're dumb enough to carry weed on you unhidden (hidden as in in an altoid tin, special compartment in your wallet, shoe, key ring holder, etc), then in all honesty you deserve it.

OP owes us more of an explanation...

I didn't have it on me. it was in my room, and i gave it to the cops. apparently i should i said "they smoked it all"
i didn't even do anything more than a hit and it was stupid. i never have smoked in my life and my roommate hits me with this. it was so boring i wasn't going to do it again anyways.

Edit: yes in the US in Michigan.

So... what did the cops do to you? Did they give you some sort of punishment? Did they piss test you to see if you had done any of it?

we all pled guilty. they gave me a ticket and i have to show up for court, but i dont know what to expect.

he said probation and prolly a $250 or something fine, and probation is a $10 a month bill.
but on the gov site or whatever it says posession is a $2000 fine

and i certainly cant afford any of that

What interests me the most is the conversation you must have had with your roommate immediately after. I can't imagine this did wonders for your coexistence.

2 Days later... You sell the rest. MUAHAHAHA. actually, I'm kidding. You did the right thing by giving all of it to him. Now you have NO GRASS or GREEN and you'll have to be paying MORE for what you had. BRAVO!

If you're worried, see a lawyer, but it's pretty late in the game for that to be honest.

In the future, supplement your weed smoking with harder drugs that will make your roommate to terrified of you to do anything. One would think twice before calling the cops on someone who just shot PCP directly into their testicles.

Weed is the new alcohol of the 1930s. In the US, only the ignorant extremists are opposed to legalizing it (and they're very opposed to it). Everyone else would rather have it legalized because they know that there are people around them who toke up every day anyway. Honestly, I can't see any valid reason for pot being illegal to begin with, but that's a whole different story.

Tell your roommate to lighten up and raise his rum bottle. Then when he's drunk out of his mind, kick him the fuck out.

why the heck should he care if his roommate go some weed? either ignore it or talk about it before calling the cops.

there's a difference between kids and adults you see... no adult should be sneaking into another adults life and try to fiddle around with it. that roomie might have some kind of mental illness, because an normal person wouldn't have done that.

pretty much yes. you don't really know what the situation is like... like, you don't know if he's addicted or just occasionally using it, you don't know if it's for medical reasons or for just being high. I bet eating a lot of fast food is just as dangerous as smoking some weed, but you don't see people call the cop for that, do you? ;o
