so, DarkCrusade, could you tell us about your experience with writing? How did you get all that wisdom?

In his defense, theory is often significantly easier than practice.  Most movie reviewers don't create their own films, but they know what makes one good or bad.  DC doesn't need to be a published author to have good advice.

(And I'm not trying to downplay your talents, DarkCrusade (whatever level they may be), but rather to help establish credibility in the absence of source material.)

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

To answer your question nonetheless, Mittsu: I've never started real writing as I don't find the time to do so. Though I have some plots in work and as soon as I find free time I'll try my best to write.
Doing something is not the only way to gain experience or wisdom. Plain thinking can be enough. I love to read books and from my point of view I can tell Gamer what I think is right.

If you think I'm wrong just tell me instead of asking where I got my experience from.

So wait, which is more important, plot or writing?

Nobody wants to read shitty writing, no matter how good the plot. And nobody wants to read wonderful prose if it goes nowhere, because then it's useless grandiloquence.

Both are important.

@Vijchti: As if I stated that one wasn't important. I just stated that the writing is more important than the plot.

Neither plot or style have any bearing on good writing.

Okay, I'll bite.  Do you mean "good" is a subjective term that differs from person to person, meaning there's no one way to make writing have such a universal quality?  Do you mean that there's no tangible way to make writing good, and it's only influenced by obscure external forces? Do you mean that writing is inherently bad?

I feel like the story is a bit too self-congratulatory; I think by overgeneralizing, you've made the conclusion too specific, causing the story to force itself upon the reader in a rather pretentious manner.

Having said that though, I think you should just move on to your next piece. I think the issue in this one has less to do with your writing than the particular scenario.
