Nah, like I said before, you usually see a good barreter when he shots you. He reaches the edge of your screen

Otherwise it's all about calculating the height of the fleeing flag carrier, so you can make a very accurate blind shot which will most likely take him out. It causes a lot of 'WTF' and 'OMG' ^^

, I'm quite good at that, I'd get beat though

To be honest, I'm strongly against using barrets in duels; most people just snipe, run.. snipe, run. That's not very honourable, nor does it show your real skill with the gun. That's the reason I quit ESL too :\

A true Barreter should only camp when absolutely nescessary. They should normally be in a near constant state of motion, and always ready to deal with bink and movement acc. They shouldn't be on the ground long enough to crouch, but should be able to hit ememies at a screen away, nearly blindly. You should also retain your aim while flipping, diving, and rolling.

You should be fast enough to be nearly immune to bullets and bink should only be a secondary worry.

The thing about Soldat is that there is no "best" player. Everyone is good at different things. For example, I pride myself in being the FFC escort in CTF games. I don't get as many kills as I would if I stayed at the base, or intercepted anyone I saw, but I am helping the team by ensuring the flag is captured.

Getting back to my main point...
There are some people who are best at just killing other people. There are some people who are best at getting assists (taking down an enemies health while another player actually gets the kill). Some people are great at capturing flags. Some people are able to avoid dying a lot. Some people are great at guarding their base.

The point is, there are so many different ways to be the "best" that no one is going to be called indisputably the best player.

Exactly. I just hate it when you play CTF and you constantly deal with players bragging about how they're the best at CTF, or for INF. Me, I'm best at two roles: sniping/fire support, and flag running. IMO, if you want to be good at team games, know your strengths and stick to them.

I agree that there is no best player (only best players) but I don't quite agree with this. To qualify as one of the many best players, tactics and teamplay is crucial. You need to know when you should escort FFC, you should know when to cover the alt route or when to stay in the opponent's base and wait for the flag to spawn or to slow down the enemies. Obviously there are tons of different things to do. In order to be a great player, you should be an all-around player who is capable of making fast decisions based on the overall situation.

Of course good players can be the best at different things though, that's not what I'm saying.

Well sure. I may think escorting is my most noteworthy tactic, but once the FFC is in our base, I'll go after the EFC. If I have the flag, I'll throw it to someone else and move out. If the FFC is in trouble, I'll run to the base to take out enemies. I like to think I'm very versatile, but I suppose everyone considers themself to be a good player.

The best player could only fairly be decided over a mass competition of every member on SoldatForums, Aussoldat Forums, ICONZ Arena forums and all the other soldat players...

Why on earth would anyone play a GAME if they didn't intend to have fun? I think most people who play Soldat do it for fun (even hackers). The rest aren't worth mentioning.

In the off-chance I use an m79 in a duel, I don't run. It's Shoot....reload....shoot again....when I get tired of that, I whip out my USSOCOM. Always does the trick.

I dont think anyone can say that he never loses anymore. everyone has there good and bad games and while their may be some players who almost always win, theirs always someone who will beat them occassionally.
