my own server- still ping 9999
« on: September 16, 2010, 11:40:18 am »
Hi, first of all I wanted to say "yes I readed your "my server has 9999 ping any no one can join" and I didnt find answer there. Why? Port forwarding link is not working. I've found another one (I didnt forward any port, cuz there is always different guide for different routers), but I still dont know what is my problem. I own dynamic IP, and running soldat dedicated server shows as my server adress:
192.168.1.2 : 23073
http://server1.enesce.com/ptest score:
OK. Please wait while we test your server configuration... (This may take up to 2 minutes)
Checking IP Address validity... PASS!

Step One: Ingame Connectivity Test
(?) Sending PING test to 77.255.35.239 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
(?) Sending REQUEST test to 77.255.35.239 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
(?) Sending JOIN GAME test to 77.255.35.239 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
Step Two: All-Seeing Eye Test
(?) Sending test to 77.255.35.239 on UDP Port 23196... FAILED!
Step Three: Remote Administration
(?) Sending test to 77.255.35.239 on TCP Port 23073... FAILED!
Step Four: Map Download Connections
(?) Sending test to 77.255.35.239 on TCP Port 23083... FAILED!

TEST RESULTS:
- Total Passed: 0/6
- UDP Check: error (Vital)
- ASE Check: error
- Admin Check: error
- Download Check: error (Vital)
- Final Test Result: FAILED! Please check your network configuration.

[ Rent a Soldat Server ]

it used my ip (whatismyip.com or whatever this page name is) and 23073 as my port.
I just wanna host sometimes a server to play with friends, thats all I need to do, and if you can help me- i will be more than happy to fix my IP problem. If you need any other information, write here.
Thanks in advance

Having ports forwarded is vital for the players to be able to play on the server.
Related to it you cannot see your own server ping on the internet, as it will always show 9999, so basically you always need 1 person who isnt sharing your internet connection to test the server.
You connect to your server using the ip 127.0.0.1 and the predefined port.

Can you find out your router manufacturer/version, as i could search for the most similar portforwarding manual.

Asmax AR 1004g
ye I know that I'll see ping 9999, but I also asume that this page isnt using my internet connection to check server settings. is it correct? so score should be positive.
and which ports should I "unlock"? 23073? or maybe I should do sth more since my server shows up this 192.168.1.2 as a ping instead of my whatismyip.com ping? :f

One, of these should be similar to yours.

Remember to set up a static ip on the pc/router, here.

To use eC's port checker, you must have the server running. The ip that is shown there should be your ip (anything different than 192.168.x.x is correct), so you dont need whatismyip.com.

ok.
these arent actually that similar, but I understand that what I have to do is create virtual server. Here is what I see:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

sorry I had to resize it cuz it was too "heavy" , but I think its still pretty clear. So. I wrote those 23073 ports, but what am I supposed to write in remote IP ? and as you can see I can choose for which service (Select a service window) im goona use it but "Soldat" doesnt appear in there so I choosed to make a custom service :P .
and heck yes- I have PFPort Checker to see if its goona work.

You must forward UDP ports also and +10 ports. Ex.: 23073+10 = 23083. So forward 23083. (Forward both, UDP and TCP)

This +10 port is only if you want to allow downloading of maps from the server.

omg, okay lets say that I allow them. but the thing is I have no damn clue what to write in "remote IP" box.
I understand that external port start- 23073, external port end- 23083.
And both TCP/UDP

+ another unknown- what to write in server ip adress? its auto written "192.168.1.". maybe 192.168.1.2? its what soldat dedicated server says when its turned on.

+irritating thing- when I add that (23073-23083 and write e.g. my IP in both remote IP and server adress boxes) all soldat servers I see have 9999 ping (when I turn my server on)

If you have your server and soldat-client on the same port (23073), things will go wrong (all servers 9999). Change the 'port' of the server or the 'joinport' of your client.

In your network settings you should be able to set your IP to a static one, not by dhcp. Make it a high number on the end, like 192.168.1.99 and forward the ports towards that IP.

Hopefully that helped.

Fine!!!!
In order to perform ping test, i visit this site www.whoisxy.com/ping.aspx
It has the best information of IP address, IP address to domain, domain name to IP,domain name, hosting, and ping test to know the particular connection is online or not!!!!!

You could also run CMD and type "ping HOSTNAME" and get the exact same info without any ads or any other bs, and be able to customize how the ping is performed.
