MSAC
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:01:02 pm »
After month i started Soldat.exe and when i tried to join a gather server it told me to download that "msac" well. 3 seconds later i was ready and joined in.

Sounds gtreat ? true
but actually it

- lowerd my fps to 10-20 ( 60 before )
- ping jumps
- other players dont move properly its more like they would port themselves.

theres NO way at the moment for me to play the game, which makes me kinda sad.

I hope theres a way to fix it

I'd like to add that I don't like how everything is being done right now. You need to install MSAC to be able to play on certain servers, and I don't want to until the worst bugs are fixed. This narrows down the number of servers that I can play on. Not much, but it are the important servers which are unavailable now. I know it's necessary for you to make sure everyone has it so you can detect more hacks, but add this specific feature after you've fixed the FPS decemation and everything mentioned in the above post.

MSAC is like BattlEye. You need the program on both your computer and the server's. We didn't really have this problem with BE because BE came with the official soldat download.

Hopefully the worst bugs will be fixed and MSAC will be in the next Soldat Patch.

why did you part one bug into 3 points? they're all connected

server owners just prefer having hack free server over pleasing some people with fps drops, but i agree it's worrying so much time has passed and it isn't fixed yet, hopefully it will be fixed soon

Yeah, it has bugs... but anything that helps prevent hackers gets my support!
I hope they manage to fix it soon, would be great to have it working in time for the next update.

But you do get protection from hackers... and they are still developing it so it should become smoother.

Whenever a hacker shows up someone's voting and he's gone already. They don't hurt the game that much to be worth my precious FPS, you know?

I have no problems with msac at all. Btw, we have new dev team which maybe will fix the soldat's fps issues. It used to be better in older versions.

I suppose. But if the fps drop was dramatically decreased whenever the bug gets fixed, it's all good?

@Wookash: Yeah! Can't wait to see what they've done to improve it.

Hacking in the competitive scene is much worse problem than it is on public servers.

You'll agree with me that changing your GUID takes a bit longer than changing your IP.

GuIDs are generated based on player's hardware so changing it would mean to change some of your hardware.

yes, perhaps by changing computers or parts of it. but nobody can hold that kind of resistance up forever(money runs out, or some part gets installed wrong way for example). and admins wouldn't hesitate banning, since it wouldn't ban innocent players.

It should be safe to say that your specs are definitely not the problem, except if maybe some of your hardware is failing--but I'm sure you'd know already if that was the case.

I regularly play soldat with msac on much older machines without and noticeable decline in performance than with BE.

Maybe it's a driver/vista problem.

The idea that hardware locks cannot be bypassed with software is absurd.

I remember when people thought they could use MAC addresses as a way of identifying a user, and banning them. So much for that - write a program that checks your hardware profile for a particular string, then mask it with a falsely generated one. If you can hide true data while presenting false data, you can trick programs or enslave nations. What makes a GUID different? All it seems to be is doing to me is collecting more than just a single address from a hardware profile.

Legally and personally, I wish to be informed what information is being quietly extracted from my machine.
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn’t work that way. So I stole a bike and then asked for forgiveness.

but its not just the fps issue.
i can barely endure the fps drops but the worst thing is that something is weird with the pings.

when i am playing on a non msac-protected server everything is fine with the pings and so on.

if im on a protected one, my ping jumps hard + other players dont look like they move from a to b its like they would port from a to b.

thats the worst thing in my eyes and it makes the game unplayable for me.

It should really be taken off the gather - etc. servers so far cause they were working well without BE.

msac seems to be good vs. cheaters but there are too many bugs yet to use it.
