Ok, well, Sandy Bridge does seem pretty amazing, but the fact that the record industry wants Intel to put a DRM (security layer) on the cpu so people will stop downloading/copying movies?

The problem with is simple. People won't buy the newer gen of cpus.

I don't understand what they are trying to achieve, all you have to do is not buy it. Of course I can see this can be a problem in the distant future, but not now. No computer right now needs a second gen cpu to run max games etc etc.

I don't really care. I build my machines with AMD cpu's not Intel.

And the sooner the top companies realize that things will be pirated regardless the better.

This doesn't stop anyone from pirating movies, it just allows customers to stream HD movies from certain distributors. It's non-invasive DRM and incentivizes digital distribution. There's not much to complain about here.

Now i will never buy any Intel's new CPU. All thanks to ds dude because Intel is a monopolistic and capitalistic brand. AMD FTW

Who cares? It's all about the the new movie service Intel is going to launch. It just keeps you from recording the 1080p-stream you receive when you buy one of the services. If I would buy one I wouldn't even care to record it. If I want to save the specific movie on on my harddisc I'm just gonna download it from the many other sources. No need to hassle with the copy protection. But anyways, the service will be overprized like always when the movie-industrie comes in.

I will still buy me a Core i5-2500K because it's kicks ass.

Intel sucked when they were behind AMD, and they suck even today. The fact that they sell C++ compilers which only work with Intel CPUs just underlines this.

This won't stop anything, all it will do is entertain hackers for a while until they work out how to get around it.
