Scorching jets
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:15:32 am »
Actually I just wanted to ask a question, and it kinda lead me to posting a feature suggestion as well, so here they are:

QUESTION: Not sure when or where, but I heard (I might've read about it in some old Soldat changelogs or announcements back in MM times) that jet boots were given the ability to burn enemies if they got too close.
However I don't remember actually seeing this working. Was it removed? Or was it not added in the first place? (maybe it was just another joke like the infamous dragonflies?).

SUGGESTION: Do you think damage from jet flames may actually be worth adding? Jets would be too weak and VERY short-ranged to be effectively used as weapon, but would be a hilarious way to finish off a nearly-dead enemy.
A Jet-Wars gamemode also sounds rather amusing, especially in combination with all the acrobatic tricks like backflips, cannonballs and prone-jetting.

Ha, I actually really like this idea - F12

Might actually make use of the 'sticky flame' particle system that only gets called when hit by flamethrower - I cant remember the last time I saw a server with flamegod enabled.
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn’t work that way. So I stole a bike and then asked for forgiveness.

Hehe.. would be my new way of killing people who don't anywhere... hover and scorch :D
So long as it doesn't deal out tooo much damage I'd go for it.
However since flamer is pretty much useless online, wouldn't jets be the same?

Jets are jets. it's main purpose is not killing, but hovering in air, so it ain't a heavy hit for jets. for the same reason somebody would've f11'd, but i f12'd - i like weird ways o killing.

This would be the new equal of killing someone by knife stabbing him.
F12

F11, it would just suck. It would look like taking some damage from nowhere. Would be even more lame with lags and packetloss.

The lag is the main thought for me... akin to the flamer.
I like the idea, but implementing it into the current (known) state of soldat, would not be good.
