Developing a Website; $ Involved [planning stage]

Developing a Website; $ Involved
Planning Stage; Basically 'rough draft'

This idea is in the, "Is this even going to happen?" phase. I've got a bunch of ideas without any cohesive structure.

Lemme explain the basics:
  • As obvious: website may be developed
  • I don't know HTML/Java/Flash etc.
  • Rough goal of website: cater to forumers by...
  • Providing personalized graphics (requires further elaboration, naturally)
  • Would need a [cocky] website developer who's interested in getting his feet wet
  • Would perhaps seek a versatile, low key, amateur graphics designer
  • I, if work is put in and something is designed, would distribute a little $ to spark something, and to make sure this whole thing was "win/win"
  • After initial payouts, $ would rely on outcome (website income, etc.)
  • This would be small time--I'm not planning a huge money making scheme
  • This would provide a chance to gain some real world experience for 2+ people interested in this type of work
  • Once again, aiming for a win/win deal for everyone involved

Problems:
There's already millions of graphics out there;
I've never led anything internet+$ related;
Not sure how to develop contracts;
Have never used Paypal;
I've never developed a website.

More information will come with discussion. This may come to a standstill, aka, "no deal" situation before anything happens, but we'll see.

Basically, I'm excited to see if any sparks fly. I don't plan on managing this whole ordeal, but providing some base leadership, and then letting all of us manage ourselves. Basically, we'll work with ideals, not "This is how I want you to do it"; we won't resort to the, "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it" gofer mentality. Creativity man--to let our differences create something better.

Is this all idealistic? Of course. But being idealistic is far more effective than being a cynicist. Are ideals ever reached? Not very often, but that's the beauty of it--you always have something greater to work towards, and then you can always look back and rejoice in the progress you've made (instead of agonizing over not reaching the ideal).

Quick Q. and A.

Q. Do you actually have money right now?
A. Yeah, I've got a job making $200+ a week, but blue-collar work isn't something I want to spend the rest of my life doing.

Q. So why this idea?
A. I want to provide an opportunity for a few people to make a little cash doing something they enjoy doing; it's rewarding to get paid doing something you love to do.

Q. Do you have a website host already?
A. Yes.

Q. Do I know any specifics about the website host?
A. No, not yet.

Hey guys, I have this great idea for a website.  Well, I don't, really; I don't even know what it's going to be about, how it'll be designed, or really anything that's important to have before making a proposal like this.  I want several people to help me in this imaginary endeavor, and who knows, maybe you'll make a dollar or two.

I'll say this is all about your creativity, because Lord knows I don't have any ideas myself.  I'll tell you to manage yourselves, because hey, I don't really know anything about this, so hopefully you guys will just make something nice for me on your own.

Well, what are you waiting for? Get to it!

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.

If you're in need of a graphic artist feel free to contact me here.

If you're going to develop a website you're going to need someone who knows php/mysql to code it. HTML and Flash are easy to edit, but once your website gets bigger it becomes a burden.

Yeah, this may be as far-fetched as manbearpig.

Maybe there's someone with some practical advice regarding graphics+websites+money. Does anyone know what the scene is like out there? because I lack street-knowledge. Maybe ideas like this pop up and fail all the time--I just don't know.

-snip-

What would you like to have elaborated? Actually, lemme rephrase that: You're just shooting shit, douchebag.

Theres actually a lot of useful video tutorials floating around on being exactly at the stage where you are right now.. Take your time watching them, and learn what you can. Theres so many different ways you could use a site, and you really need to know the key areas to focus on for particular audiences. Its hard for me to verbalise a process that will be very unique to your specific mindset and goals. Making a site is one thing, making it something people will look at is another, and making decent money off it is something else entirely. So go and do some research, and try to mould your ideas into something coherent before you get ahead of yourself.

Listen.  I've had (and know people who have had) plenty of "great ideas" like yours.  Problem is, there are always conditions: "If only this was true."  "If only I had these resources." "If only these people would help me out."  "If only this could be tweaked this way."  KYnetiK said (much more nicely) what I was implying: Figure out what the heck you actually want to do before announcing you're going to do it.  Otherwise, you're just wasting your own time and the time of anyone who says they'll try to help you.  Without direction, a project goes nowhere.  And you come in here, all wide-eyed and excited, telling us about the next great thing, and you don't even know what it is! Not only do you not know what it is, but you don't have ANY experience with this sort of thing.  You can't make a website, you can't make graphics, you don't know how to make money with a website, or really anything else that would help you.  Because of that, you want to get a bunch of people to work for you, meaning all you'll do is manage them (and you don't even want to do that).

Basically, you remind me of this guy.

I'm generally a nice enough person, and I have no problems with helping someone (or something) that shows promise.  But honestly, I don't think you, or this, has any potential at all.  Heck, even in the post where you whine about my earlier response, you say your idea is far-fetched, that you don't know anything about this sort of thing, and that ideas like this fail a lot.  Well, you're right on all three counts.
