Constant connection problems
« on: February 13, 2011, 04:05:20 pm »
Hi all,
I got connection problems in any server I connect to.
However, when I'm joining empty servers, I don't have this problem. Only some lag, for example when I'm taking the flag, I get it after about 2 seconds.
I've got a Netgear modem, and I turned off my AVG firewall, which gave me already some trobules.
I tried to play using another internet connection, of a friend of mine, and it goes all fine. He has my same internet connection, so I don't understand what it could be.
Can anybody help me?

For long has this been happening? Did it just start or has it been going all the time?
Do other games/applications have problems like this?

It happens all the times, since I've installed Soldat.
It doesn't happen with other applications as MSN, mIRC etc.
In the past (months ago), MSN used to disconnect every 5-10 minuts and reconnect by itself, but it didn't happen anymore.
I've played only some browser games and it's all ok with them.
Just soldat gives me this problem.

Do you run any applications in the background? Which OS do you use (Windows XP/Vista/7/Linux)? Did you try reinstalling Soldat yet? Tried playing with the Soldat settings already?

No, I got just AVG running in background.
I use Windows 7, and yes, I reinstalled soldat plenty of times. I tried using both default and custom settings but nothing changes.

Yea i have another notebook, and a Desktop PC directly connected to the router.
Some time ago i tried to install Soldat on PC, but it was always the same.
Do you think it could be the wireless connection or some port forwading problem?

Ok, I tried to reinstall Soldat on my Desktop PC, the one connected to the router diretcly.
Now I found a different problem: when I request the server list, most of them have 9999 ping (also the ones with players inside). I used filters and everything. The only ones with a low ping, were empty.
So i joined on a Deathmatch server and I could be able to play about 5 seconds then it gave me again "Connection problem" and I had to disconnect.

I think your router is probably blocking soldat's ports?

Could you explain how it exactly happens?
Would like to know after which time period it happens and if other applications still work when soldat looses connection.

One way to test this:
run cmd.exe (windowskey+r then type cmd)
type ping google.com -t
join a server which has other people

When you get connection issues in soldat look at the cmd window (the black window) and check if packets have been lost.

Besides that any other information would be helpful.
