gosteks are client sided, so this idea keeps being an idea
Surely this would this require every player who joins the server to download a gostek pack?Soldat by default only comes with a single gostek?...
Without downloadable content this is impossible.

I mean I'm indifferent about the whole idea - could be kinda cool sometimes, so long as it could be turned on and off.
If this was a peripheral script, then it would require everybody to download gosteks which they did not have. This would be annoying and would most likely have all sorts of bugs as the list piles up. Even though scripts have the advantage of giving VIP status to any player from any server, I doubt that scriptcore has the capability to redefine artwork anyway since it is server-side not client-side. For this idea to work efficiently I think it needs to be a part of the actual game, but before that can happen everyone needs to agree on the media content because the number of content would be limited and hierarchical.VIP status would firstly be given to Developers and maybe even Testers - each with unique art for their role.Additional VIPs after release could be assigned by a process similar to registration - for example a tournament winner might be given the prize of VIP status, they are given a reg key which unlocks their VIP content from their client.Server owners can apply for admin level VIP reg key. They can be assessed for eligibility by server traffic, server lifetime etc. If approved the server owner receives a special reg key that can assign admin level VIP status for that server only. A fee could also be involved./brainstorm
