I just saw a video with that tsunami wave going on dry land and in front of it hundred of cars trying to get away from it. I'm not really usually affected by such things, but man that s**t's hard to watch...

http://myanimelist.net/anime/6211/Tokyo_Magnitude_8.0
"The premise of the project is the 70% possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years. The anime depicts what would happen if an 8.0 earthquake took place."
(btw, this anime is great, but don't read anything about it if you plan to watch it)

They do (the whole Japan is a very earthquake-active region), but I don't think anyone was prepared for 8.9.

Yep but no one talks about the most dangerous thing the "nuclear plant" if it explodes it would mean a second Chernobyl... people would get much more cancer and other sickness the air would be 2000x more radioactive... Deaths from illness would get for 60-70% higher and Japan is a island that means radioactive components in the sea and air...

I hope this won't delay my favorite animes.

Jokes aside, this earthquake was of similar characteristics and magnitude to the one that struck the Indian Ocean in 2004, killing ~300,000. Trained citizens and early warnings likely saved thousands of lives.

Yes they have destructive meltdowns"thera are no magic not heating meldowns".They cant repair it like you think -_- cause of the huge radiation inside there helps no "anti-radiation suit" and they got no electrics for cooling down the generator...

As long as there's water around there won't be a meltdown. Even if they somehow forgot to pump in emergency water there wouldn't be enough explosive components in a modern reactor to breach the containment building.

Weathers extremes are going to happen more in the future, mostly because of the warming of the planet. We've had quite good summer, winter and autumn, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I guess that if CO2-effluent don't fall in majority in the near future, Africa can dry, in here weather can be 33+ in summer, and in winter maybe even -50. Also, when seas warm up more, cold water stops pushing Gulf Stream, it turns and anything can happen. Well, these are the worst visions, but I still guess that we just need to get used to catastrofes like this one.
Yeh.
Sorry if I'm insolent.

March 14th will make the night during which the Moon will be closest to the Earth since 1992. It'll look larger and be much brighter than usual. This event is informally known as a "supermoon" among the scientific community and some people expect that it may carry natural disasters along with it.

Kazuki: Astrologers aren't a part of the scientific community.

Monsteri: There's no indication that earthquakes are caused by global warming.

Like marginally higher tides. No major natural disasters seems to have coincided with the 1992 "supermoon."
