*sigh* Climbing again..
There's way too many bugs and exploits used in climbing, you can't expect them to stay in the game forever. IMHO all these issues should be fixed, climbers can stick with an older version of Soldat where they can be sure that all their glitches work as intended.
I can't believe what i just red.
I sincerely hope that you will leave before the climbers do.
Your post is an insult towards the whole climbing community.
Elaborate please, as I don't think I've said anything too insulting. Climbing uses a lot of bugs, glitches and exploits that are clearly not part of the game design and are simply design and programming flaws. Or am I wrong?
Bugs are still bugs, if they're ok in climbing but break all other gamemodes - they must be fixed, which will surely break a lot of climbing maps, like the recent fix for bouncy polys. Even if this particular issue isn't as major - IMHO there's no need to hold back when fixing issues since climbers will have to stick with older versions of the game or remake broken maps either way as more bugs get fixed (like vertex bouncing, getting stuck in polys, and such). So as far as I'm concerned, I was just stating the inevitable.
Not to mention that not only climbing maps would be affected but many ctf maps would be as well.
I honestly can't think of even a single CTF map that would be affected even a little bit. Maybe there are some weird custom CTF maps with climbing elements, but I've never seen them on the servers so I imagine they're not popular for their CTF aspect much. Can you link to some examples?
It's you that should stick to an old version of Soldat. Where you can be sure none of these glitches are working yet.
Unlike you and some other soldat veterans, I welcome changes. Even if some things get sacrificed in the process and I have to relearn and get used to something new - I don't get upset because I know there's still a lot of good things to look forward to. That's what every new soldat patch brings, so I plan to stick with the newest versions, thank you. Popular climbing maps can be tweaked to work with the latest version, and you've got a large enough community to do that. If it's a minor change - then a tweak will probably also be minor and wouldn't require more than a few minutes to do. Not to mention that people will still be making more and more climbing maps, so it's not the end of the world.
