Thing Thing (Delayed)
« on: August 17, 2006, 03:31:05 pm »
For those of you who've never heard of Thing Thing ( :o), take a look at http://diseasedproductions.net.  It is my favorite flash game ever, and is one of the few that has real weapons AND makes them look real.  Anyway, it has it's own little style that's genius in it's own way, and I took it upon myself to make a modification for it.  However, I made this a while ago when I was still relatively new to Soldat and modding, but still, it's gotten good review from Thing Thing fans in the past.  I even took the interface-gfx directly from the game (the hard way, without sprites).  But now, it's time for an update.

I'll give you the origional download, but the major point is that I'm going to go back to it, fix a couple of balancing problems and shrinkage issues, get replacements for weapons I didn't have before (chainsaw, minigun, knive), and make the graphics more versatile.  I might even add a Madness gostek for team 2 just for kicks. (Note: Weasel, the maker of the TT games, has a forum and has openly stated his dislike of people comparing TT to Madness. ;D)  The biggest problem was that the weapons were a bit unrealistic (little or no recoil, depending on game, no reloading), but I'll work out the problems asap.

Anyway, here's a screenshot of the origional 1.0 edition:

To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Good looking guns in general.. they overlap and there is no color, but they look nice overall.

Nice guns, very madness-ish, but they overlap way too much, and there is still green showing.

Edit:
Fix your signature, the image is too big. The max size must be  < 20kb

Okay people, for one, I already said that Weasel hates his games being compared to madness, and the main reason I'm going back to fix the guns is the oversizedness.

Therein lies the problem: I'm a terrible graphic artist by myself.  But, anyway, I can possibly get more game sprites for more weapons, like Chainsaw => POSEIDON's beam cannon, Knive => Val Drieg's claw, and whatever else comes up.  I might even make the Ruger the FN-FAL instead of the DEagle, and use the ZEUS rifle as the barret.  The big problem is a weapon replacement for the minigun.  I'll work that out eventuallly.

Yeah, I get shrinkage sometimes.  On the other hand (mind the pun) I like the guns.

I know, I know.  It was one of my crappier attempts at a custom interface.  It's not included.  I'll try to make a TT interface for the next version.

Anyway, I can't get any of my origional hosting to take the file.  It's apparently too big.  Until I can get it up, just pm me about it, and I'll email it to you until I can get the problem resolved.

EDIT:  Problem resolved!  Just click the URL link in the first post.

Hello!  It's Thing Thing, dammit, it's supposed to look like that!  Before you even comment on my mod, play the Thing Thing games first.  And I know about the overlap, it's why I'm redoing this mod.  I just wanted everyone to see the origional first.

Finally, another TT lover.  Well, you'll be even more happy once I get to redoing it.  I'm trying to get Weasel to give me sounds and sprites.  Still no response...

That's the plan.  I'm making them smaller so they actually fit.  Plus, I'm adding a knive and chainsaw replacement.

Glad I could bring back memories.  Oh, by the way, do you remember POSEIDON's gun from TT1?  That's going in there.  So will ZEUS's gun, probably.

That wasn't HADES, that was his PROTOTYPE.  Don't you ever read the cutscenes?  It's name was "val Drieg".  Also, I'm considering making a bio-weapon gostek.

That's what I ment. His prototype was a dissapointing ending. And bio-weapon sounds good.
