Hey, it's your constitution, not mine. Also, AFAIK the USA doesn't give a shit about minorities, and the majority of it's population back at the time the constitution was written, was, and still is, I believe, Christian.
I myself never push my beliefs down someone's throat, because I know I'm not their superior to do so. Nobody is. You provoked this conversation so bare with the words that arise. If you translate me makign a stand for my beliefs as propaganda, so be it, but to imply that I'm forcing those beliefs on you is an insult to me, so try to keep from stepping on the line.

I said I get my info about Christianity from the church, doesn't mean that I am not allowed to study other religions, and add to my cultural references.
And I sure as hell don't approve of Islam completely, I just accept that it exists as a religion and ideology.

I know where AIDS came from, but I never asked you where it came from, I asked you how it spread among humans after it found it's way into the human body. And whether you agree or not, homosexual intercourse was the fuse that set off the bomb.

"The first recognised cases of AIDS occurred in the USA in the early 1980s (more about this period can be found on our History of AIDS page). A number of gay men in New York and California suddenly began to develop rare opportunistic infections and cancers that seemed stubbornly resistant to any treatment. At this time, AIDS did not yet have a name, but it quickly became obvious that all the men were suffering from a common syndrome."

"Both national and international travel undoubtedly had a major role in the initial spread of HIV. In the US, international travel by young men making the most of the gay sexual revolution of the late 70s and early 80s would certainly have played a large part in taking the virus worldwide."

Moving on, I am in no way ignorant, thank you. Because even science, history, and all knowledge is relative. Sorry to burst your bubble, mate, but not everyone in this world will agree with you just because some book said so.
Sound familiar? I'm now using your approach to this, to jog your memory: Check out the "Laugh at the U.S" thread.

Oh boy.  :)

It's not my constitution either, I'm not an American. I didn't accuse you of knowingly pushing your beliefs on people. I accused you of spouting catchy self-affirming phrases which are not unlike something you'd see on a wartime poster about being on the front-lines or fighting for your country.

I know where AIDS came from, but I never asked you where it came from, I asked you how it spread among humans after it found it's way into the human body. And whether you agree or not, homosexual intercourse was the fuse that set off the bomb.

Bold statements are baseless assertions based on what you wish to believe.

Should we focus more on how homosexuality is to blame for something we can't confirm it is to blame for? Or should we look at what we can and cannot determine and not leap to conclusions based on a preconcieved preference of asserted truth?

Moving on, I am in no way ignorant, thank you. Because even science, history, and all knowledge is relative. Sorry to burst your bubble, mate, but not everyone in this world will agree with you just because some book said so.
Sound familiar? I'm now using your approach to this, to jog your memory: Check out the "Laugh at the U.S" thread.

Truth is not relative, there is such thing as an actual truth. Personal beliefs are relative. You can believe the Moon is made of cheese but it doesn't mean that's true just because you believe it.

The people who will agree with me are the people who are interested in understanding what the truth is. The people who don't are by sheer definition ignorant, because they are ignoring the truth one way or another. Maybe they are uninformed of the truth or misinformed of the truth or literally ignoring the truth.

Fuck. Demoniac is trolling again. Though I do find it hilarious that the guy making outrageous claims about human history and medicine, and using weasel words like "I've been told..." demands others show proof.

And that people will see diseases their ancestors never even knew about, because they will commit indecencies such as gay sex.

HIV appears to be just as infective through heterosexual receptive anal sex as homosexual receptive anal sex. So it not so much an issue about homosexuality as it is about anal sex in general.

And homosexuality has been prevalent for thousands of years before SIV strains evolved to infect humans in the late 50s or so. So our ancestors didn't have to fear HIV.

Totally agree. And I feel like clarifying something. "gay sex" can also refer to oral and handjobs; neither transmit HIV unless you've got cuts on your hands or in your mouth. And calling them indecencies just proves demoniac is a gigantic homophobe.

Riiight, so nowadays it seems anyone with a different opinion is either labeled as ignorant, a troll, or a conspiracy theorist.
I've had enough of this bull, I won't engage in a discussion with neanderthals with access to the internet.
Unless you guys plan on playing nice and civilized, I'm not wasting my time on arrogant brick-wall headed wannabe King Solomon's.

If your different opinion is fucked, then of course you will be labeled as an ignorant retard and/or troll.

Do you think people will stop predicting it after it doesn't happen in 2012?

There will always be nutjobs and people who want fame by claiming outrageous things

As for the forum apocalypse - that was my fault.  I made a mistake in the network configuration for the static content servers which made the forums unusable for anyone who doesn't access them over IPv6 (which is why I didn't notice the problem).  It took me almost 2 days to have someone start giving me useful information to track the problem down.

I'm sure the forums will bounce back, there are probably just some people who are waiting a few days before trying to visit again.

sorry about that guys

Who isn't being civilized?

Everyone has a different opinion on something. The problem with your opinion is that it ignores the reality and the facts that have been presented to you about AIDS.

I've honestly never seen such thick irony in someone saying other people are 'brick-wall headed'.

What is this, the 4th time you've backed out of an argument since the start of the hugely successful Stop what you're doing and laugh at the U.S topic just because "the other kids don't agree with me T_T".

Justify your position. If you can't then don't hold that position in the adversity of reality. And certainly don't run away if nobody else is taking your side. If the truth hurts then embrace the pain, because afterall, it is the truth.
